My transducer had the same error =) However, this type of "repair" only lasted 2 days for me. I then built an AD204 from Analog Devices with a small circuit board. EV´s can also be repaired 😎😎 Great channel 👍👍
Thanks for the informative video. You are an EV HERO.. Your customer sure found the right person for the right job. Your dedication shines through on any job you tackle. BRAVO Dala, you rock!!!
I had 2 Condensers de soldered and replaced. I did all the work accessing it from top. So I did not have to remove any coolant. It were Ceramic Condensers with 2kV and 1nF. Today after some 22.000 km and 22 months later they blew again. This time without blowing the huge Fuse in the Inverter.
I found the Okaya LE225 X2 condenser to be the root cause of the current defect. You didn’t show HOW to take the lower PCB out. I already disconnected all cables and unscrewed the PCB from the housing. Do you have a hint how to proceed? Is the PCB sticky on a colling block of the housing?
That was awesome we need more folks around to troubleshoot electric vehicles. I own a 2017 Smart ForTwo Electric. Hope and pray nothing goes wrong with it!
9 months later... How is the car? Have you had any update from the owner? Would you recommend doing the (more permanent) Greg Fordice fix instead of the the 2MR resistor fix??
I have same issue + eat to 3v the12V ( new one) battery in some days. P1A15 + U1111, U1113, U1116. I not sure what to investigate, the inverter or other ?
Hi. Great videos. Great Channe.I have same problem on a C- Zero. You said you put 2 x 1 Megohm resistors on there. So can you confirm that where the two resistors are soldered together they DONT connect anywhere on the little board so are in series ? Merry Xmas
Thank you very much for the excellent content you provide. I wanted to ask if you have ever considered replacing the i-MiEV battery with a Nissan Leaf battery and upgrading the car's battery pack capacity? Do you think it will work?
It would *probably* be possible but just as probably not practical as there would be all sorts of potential physical and electrical differences between the cars/cells. There are several groups world-wide trying to re-work the i-MiEV/clones' battery to take more recent and more energy dense cells with some success but one of the main problems is that the car's firmware simply can't be re-programmed to acknowledge a battery capacity greater than the original 16kWh. So, despite everything working, when the SOC has fallen to what the car thinks is near zero, it goes into limp mode despite there being much more charge remaining in the battery. It's been a while since I looked so maybe they have cracked this. Such wonderful wee cars, I can understand why they have such a good support community.
If the legs were really long it could be a concern. But not for so short runs. The inverter voltage measurement drifts >10VDC compared to the battery voltage which prevents startup.
@@DalasEVRepair Early adopter woes I suppose. Bit of a fail for the designer/manufacturer of the inverter board to incorporate such a unreliable voltage measuring circuit.
@@ThanosSustainable according to the forums these circuits just drift as they age, and start to cause issues. New replacement is advised, this is just a temporary fix
Any specific instructions to remove inverter safely? Like "do not remove HV cables because not necessary" or something. I have another problem with iMiEV - does drop the heater from time to time. Especially when accelerating harder and battery is less than 70% charged. no errors. After restart resumes heating immediately. Never drops when stationary, even at full blast and battery almost empty.
Hi thx for your video I've got a 2017 ion with exact same codes I opened up the cover in the boot I have different boxes I assume charger inverter so confused as where to find fault
Hi Dala. Have you ever had it where obd dongle wont connect to ecu and just give error ? I have Obd Link MX and it connects to CanIon fine and reads battery voltages. But wont connect with Torque or Obd link software or another obd2 scanner. I have 12v and two earths and 65 ohms between Can high and low on diagnostic socket which seems to be correct. Any help would be appreciated.
Yes these cars are very finicky with OBD2 readers. I had to use "Car Scanner" app, and only scan one part of the system at a time, otherwise it locked up!
Hello I am in New York State and I would like to know who can repair these cars because I bought one and I have no idea. Thanks, please give me an idea.
Anybody see the new Chinese replacement Leaf battery vid? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xVOPuSzd2ZM.html not much info but ,maybe something . Maybe Dala will have some luck contacting them as I received nothing.
