Great video mate, i have grafted more tropical fruit trees like jaboticabas and garcinias but am starting to graft some citrus, I like the way you do it.
I didn't think to ask for a demonstration, but I have two ungrafted rootstocks and some seed grown kumquat and mandarinquat (the Frieda's store bought ones). So I may have to give this a try now.
@@paul.1337 I think that's a perfect use for this technique. Your kumquat/mandarinquat seedlings may survive and produce much better on the rootstock. I always struggled with root rot when growing quat seedlings of any type.
@@yochanontheseeker1942 Yes! Swingle/Sacaton make good, very vigorous rootstock. Dunstan is a bit more susceptible to root diseases in my experience but still tougher than normal citrus. Troyer/Carrizo/Kuharske work well too especially for mandarin/orange hybrids.
@@fasteagle9959 We leave the grafts in 50% shade or more, I would definitely opt for full shade when temperatures are 90-100°F like they will be this week here!
