I really like his way of transmitting feelings through his songs. They sound positive and with energy, but on the inside something really heavy is going on for everybody. Thats what I like, true feelings are just covered by a smoke courtain so that they can be molded, to make them work.
I love his voice and listened to this song for the first time. Through RU-vid fans comments, I saw a lot of opinion concerned with his background but I don't care about it! Cuz these songs are brilliant great and I cannot escape from this attractive voice.
His hair looks like he just got out of bed and drove here. I love it. And yet again, I'm blown away completely by Mr. Green's voice. The guy has got some heavenly pipes. I just can't say enough good things about him.
Such great quality, flawless play and deep, warm and touching sound. Both vocal and the guitars. This, along with his boiled frogs performance are among my favorite live performances by him! So goood!
A coma might feel better, than this; attempting to discover where to begin You're weighed down you're full of something...of sickness and desertion You're weighed down you're full of something, you're underneath it all So say goodbye to love and hold your head up high There's no need to rush we're all just waiting, waiting to die Hope in better place is all I need, with moments of innocence and mystery oh it's the little things you miss, like waking up all alone oh it's the little things you miss, when you're underneath it all So say goodbye to love and hold your head up high There's no need to rush we're all just waiting, waiting to die All your friends seem like enemies when you're broken down and empty All your friends seem like enemies when you're broken down and empty So say goodbye to love and hold your head up high There's no need to rush we're all just waiting, waiting to die
...I'm sure it is him. He just is amazingly good like that. Plus the original "waiting"song itself has base drum and tambourine at the beginning. Can't wait to see him in Montreal june 3rd.
to all the ppl who think this isn't live, type in "Dallas Green of City and Colour performing Waiting" Pretty sure it's a recording that's jus as good as this one!!!! Dallas would never overdub any instruments or voices...He doesn't need to
It's definitely live. Any guitar player can watch his hands and know that this is live, even with the video sync problems. What you hear before the song starts is just the room mic. It's just a 2 channel recording straight from the board...there's some verb on the vocal, but the guitar is straight from the output jack. Listen to some other live recordings of him - as long as it's just him and an acoustic guitar, he's pretty much perfect. THANKS FOR POSTING THIS

Of course this is live. He goes briefly goes flat on "hope for a better place." He has two diaphram condenser mics recording him and some post-production so, of course, it's going to sound good. To his credit, his timing and pitch are remarkable. Not many artists today can do this. The point about the metronome is well taken. There is no way he could play perfectly on time without listeing to a metronome or pre-recorded song on the headphones. Simply stated, he's amazing.
actually it is live, the mic he is using is a neumann u87 with perhaps a compressor on it so that is why it sounds so good. Probably tracked into Pro Tools and not much mixing needed my friend, but nice try
Can someone please watch this video and figure out how he plays this song and then make a video lesson on it I've been trying to figure it out and all the stuff I find on the internet is nowhere near what Dallas actually plays.
Also...for those of little faith, notice that he's not wearing headphones, so if he "faked" this, he'd have to be a human metronome because he's not listening to a click track.
I know he's good...but listen while he strums his guitar the first time and is talking. I think the radio station just played the actual song over his performance. His lips are a little off sync from the audio too.
hahah your a desmond hay. if you did see him live you must've have been listening. it sounds just like him, hes amazing. whats the point of trying to say its not him anyway, do you get some sort of self satisfaction? felt like you've become a music critic or something and actually done something with your life?
lawlwall. you realize a sequencer is a program that *sequences* audio and midi transparently, right? durrr. haha. guy... compression has nothing to do with mixing. that's post-prod work. also, there's not a lot of noticeable compression.. very soft if any. and by the way, I'm very sorry that I can suggest the identity of a design of microphone by looking at it and comparing it to what I know of already, instead of claiming it is another one right off the bat. see: use of "I'm pretty positive".
