"This is not about speech. It's not. It's about the actual action of going on the keyboard, going into the dark web, gathering the information, downloading it to your computer and then disseminating it to people who are in the press or otherwise," Klein said. When Klein was asked if the city is filing the temporary restraining order now to prevent more embarrassment, he said that is not the case. "This is two and a half weeks into Connor being out there. If this was really about some sort of embarrassment, wouldn't we have filed it two and a half weeks ago? This is about the escalation of the type of data that threatens criminal investigations," Klein said." Lol, no, it's just because you hasn't thought of it yet. Someone made the very stupid decision to shoot the messenger, and that is why you have done this now. "I am not going to let our officers down. I am not going to let our victims down. I am not going to let our witnesses down who are out there. Some witnesses are in tough cases. They put their ass on the line to go to court. They have the right to have their identity protected," Klein said." You already have. Your security was compromised - and not by this expert - and that data is out there whether you proceed to shoot the messenger or not. He wants to safely share the data a la "have I been pwnd", which is a very logical solution. "The city filed four claims for relief against Goodwolf: Damages for criminal acts Invasion of privacy Negligence Civil conversion" Sorry to the civilians whose tax dollars are being burned in this cover up. The city should be held responsible, but clearly the city is not going to do that to themselves. I hope the victims of the data breach seek justice against the city. In the meantime, they're going to bring frivolous lawsuits against someone who proved they lied about the data being corrupted.
I can't believe the judge did this. That information is out there. This particular expert is not the one that put it out there. And he hasn't done anything except for point out the seriousness of this blunder. On the city's part. And this is the problem that you run into with most governments local or federal. They try to sweep problems under the rug and throw money at them and then if they can't do that they try to find a scapegoat. Whoever this judge is ought to be barred from being a judge ever again.
He didn’t hack the city. He has not done anything illegal. This is a great example of how NOT to deal with a data breach of your city. City of Columbus gets a 0 out of 10 on this.
Wow I'm glad I don't live there I would have to buy a semi truck loaded tp. And TP everybody's house. The judge. The city leaders who don't understand the damage that they've caused by trying to cover this up. Yeah that's how you deal with those kinds of problems toilet paper
Guy keeps mentioning Experian like it's some kind of shield it's absolutely pointless in this scenario. Wanting the victims to feel safe is not keeping the victims safe. Ask anybody and information technology. People that know about this stuff. Experian is a moot point in this
😮so what precautions has the CITY OF COLUMBUS now deployed to prevent such Cyber security hacking and when is a Class Action Lawsuit to be filed by the effected victims vs the City of columns as this will amount to a $100 million payout> hope that the City has professional liability insurance to cover all( and has the FBI investigated and imprisoned the Cyber Hackers who hacked the City as it looks as if they are deflecting from the real problem which is catching the hackers😅)
The information isn't classified, so as long as he doesn't release the information out of malice, they have no legal grounds to push charges against him.
The true threat to public safety is the complete lack of accountability for incompetence and arrogantly using the legal system towards someone who caught these people. This is our gov, bottom to top.
Downloading a song from Spotify requires: 1) following a path of clicks 2) user authentification by means of an account 3) issuing payment from your bank account. Downloading Columbus citizen's stolen sensitive data from the "dark web" requires: _) following a path of clicks. Such unfathomable LEveL oF SofiSTicAtiOn 🤷♂
So instead of working with the guy who clearly knows more than you about something and could possibly help You're sueing him and acting like he's the one who caused the issue so you can avoid responsibility?
