Teaching Activities At the Constitutional Convention in 1787, delegates fiercely debated the issue of slavery. They ultimately agreed that the United States would potentially cease importation of slaves in 1808. An act of Congress passed in 1800 made it illegal for Americans to engage in the slave trade between nations, and gave U.S. authorities the right to seize slave ships which were caught transporting slaves and confiscate their cargo. Then the "Act Prohibiting the Importation of Slaves" took effect in 1808. However, a domestic or "coastwise" trade in slaves persisted between ports within the United States, as demonstrated by slave manifests and court records.

Defund the Homeless Strategy Office. No. Seriously. We had a problem with a homeless campmwnt of drug users, drug peddlers, prostitutes, thief’s, and other criminals. Called the police, and eventually months later get HSO (Homeless Strategy Office) to investigate. Their advice was to be nice to these people, approach them with a gift of bottled water, and food, and any other things that would make their lives easier. That’s what HSO does. They spend 6 months getting rapport with these people while the same individuals go on to break into other neighbor homes and businesses, and pee and poop at the homes and businesses that complain about them. We are fed up with this.
