The City of Corpus Christi is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month!
Honoring Hispanic Heritage Month reaffirms the City of Corpus Christi’s dedication and commitment to celebrating our rich Hispanic culture and pays tribute to the accomplishments of Hispanics throughout our city and history. It is of great significance to honor the contributions of our Hispanic community, who have helped create our community's vibrancy and economic success. We will feature local Hispanic creatives carrying culture and heritage forward as part of our celebration.
Samuel Alcorta Jr. is the artistic director of Alcorta's Folklórico Dance Studio. The art of mexican folk dance is a way for our community to experience Hispanic Culture through visual arts. Folklorico dance translates to "Dances of the people", illustrating people through movement on stage. The goal is to transport the audience to the Hispanic culture through dance, music, and costumes on stage.
Alcorta's Folklórico Diamante and its performing company, Alcorta's Compañía de Danza Folklórica, is adamant about instilling focus, respect, teamwork and discipline in their students from across the Coastal Bend by means of high-quality dance education.
The company offers Mexican Folklórico as well as Spanish Flamenco dance classes to male and female students ages three and up.
