Got to say, I really love the way Crescent kind of challenges Eyedea when he says "What you smilin' about?" Not that he's doing it for competitive reasons or anything, just seems to me, like he's trying to sort of push Eyedea. Love that.

Fucking sucks that this guy passed away... used to rock his albums and still do today... he could of really went far and changed this redundant world of hip hop we live in today. Big ups to Rhymesayers for keeping the dream alive. I was crazy into freestyling and made some great shit as a kid... but I could never find a group of friends like this that not only encouraged each other but elevated each other. All of my friends were envious of what I could do but never motivated me to pursue it. They started to be real douchey about it and try to make me feel embarrassed for being a white dude that raps. It eventually wore me down and I gave up on it. But everyone in my highschool knew my music... I wish I never gave up. Would be cool to find a group of people who are into hip hop.

The sad thing is most of these truly inspired artists always have a darkness about them, alot of the time the drugs and alcohol serve just as much to drown the negative out as it does to inspire the art

As people? I did not come here to watch this video and view them as people. I'm here strictly for the art. If i wanted to watch them as people. They would have to make a "Reality Show" or something of that nature. This is a video based on them showcasing their "Talents" (in which they lack musically EXCEPT Eyedea). I was there literally and seen Eyedea (Mikey) grow MUSICALLY. Eyedea was terribly troubled but found an outlet to release what he was going through in music. This i know.

YEAH! Eyedea is the only one who holds any weight out of ALL of them. When you live in Los Angeles and grow up LITERALLY in the 90's underground circuit chillin' with the FF Crew, from the days of The Good Life Cafe in South Central you would understand. I was there son. And these other dudes would have got booed right off of the stage. They definitely do not hold up to the standards according the the REAL ARTISTRY i lived through. Peace.

Yeah, that's just reasonable... I can't give you any "legit" answers, because it is mostly rumored. Many magazines have written about it and his friend Sage Francis even mentioned it in "The Man Behind The Eyedea" (good read about Mikeys life). He supposedly was offered a record deal for Bad Boy Records, by P. Diddy after Blaze Battle and/or Scribble Jam. There have been rumors about other offers, but if they're true (which I believe) I understand why Micheal wouldn't make anything out of it.

@tranzitms Eminem is talented. So is Eyedea. They are both awesome in their own ways. you seem to think you're preaching some higher truth while it's just YOUR opinion. Eyedea trumped Eminem in Battles and Songs dude..you're just a fan in denial. The reason he didn't have a "deal" with a huge producer/label/promoter whatever because he refused them. He knew if his music was sucked into that corporate machine it would become as generic as ...Eminem. And the message would be lost

He turned it down, most likely because he didn't want his music to get outwatered by mainstream producers and artists. This guy is more real and talented than Eminem. This deserves a million views How could Ray Williamsomething have over 2 million views per video through youtube! Eyedea has far greater talent and His video Smile only has 1 million views..
