This depicts trams (trains) operated by Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS). This video was taken in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. These trains were built by Siemens A.G.. Dated: 2010-01-30
I guess some of the people commenting on this video are not aware that a light rail is a type of train. All trains are real. Just because its not the NYC subway doesn't mean it isn't useful.
Why do people from NYC always think they are the center of the universe? I've had to go up on business and I can't wait to leave since the stench makes me sick. Give me Toronto anytime over that open sewer.
@USofMilitaryPower94 Yes there is a glass wall and a door that is locked when in motion. The glass wall allows you to see over the drivers shoulder and whats up ahead though.
I just love Charlotte! I had never been there until this last summer when my folks moved there www.drhorton.com/North-Carolina/Charlotte/Waxhaw/Emerald-Millbridge-The-Enclave its an amazing place to be, I couldnt believe how great the people are! I didnt go on a train though, I am a little jaded from my NYC train ride.
OMG what a nasty comment. Totally untrue. People in the Charlotte area leave their cars outside the city and ride down town on the trains which run every 5 minutes.
those are some small platforms not so scary compared to NYC. I'm sometimes afraid of catching the train due to some crazy person pushing you off the platform, but here some crazy person push you off, not hard getting back on platform.
@shannatoocute Its Light rail, not heavy rail like the NY rail system and yes there is a big difference, its also Charlotte, the 17th largest city in the US, not NY the 1st. plus I have never seen a light rail train with more than 4 cars anywhere, even on LA's system.
Rushanna Britton What do you mean we call that a train? So New York City is the only place that you can call a train a train? It’s called light rail. Some of the biggest cities in the world have them. New York is not the only place with effective public transportation. Y’all New Yorkers kill me with that belittling crap
I didn't know you guys had trains there! They are way cleaner than ours (Chicago) but boston's are cleaner than ours too. This is a big plus for me I have to visit
@FreshAzImis92 Yeah, it started going under construction around like 2006 or something (been so long i cant remember exactly when) i remember they worked on it for a LONG time and then finaly in like 2008 or something they finished. come 2009 i left to ABQ, next stop potentialy Knoxvil but i still have good memorys of charlotte no matter how many places i've been.
Good Morning To You LYNX Trains And I Still Have A Serious Crush On You LYNX Trains And Our Love Is So Strong Together And My Heart Beats For You LYNX Trains
I remember this snowfall. I was still living in Louisiana at the time and I was in NC visiting my then-girlfriend. Now I'm a proud NC resident, and that girlfriend is now my wife! Love it up here!
I will soon be moving to Charlotte, I was there in 2007, but it was on bad terms, now I'll be free to live my life the way I want too. I really enjoy it!!!
thats a pretty good video, thanks for Sharing, i used to film on the train when i went to europe in the 1980s and 1990s so i can appriciate a video like. , Especially when you have people looking at you wondering what you are doing . Now its all good. They have Long forgotten the person filming that day, and You.......You have memories of Charlotte Documented. I only live about 85 miles from there in Winston-Salem NC. Charlotte is a great city
Charlotte is beautiful! The best thing about Charlotte is the people and the small town feel of the city outside of uptown (or downtown). Charlotte's roads will seem like a hell bent maze. I get lost there all the time and beside from the interstates, not a single roads goes in a straight line. The city is also safe. The weather is alright. September to May is great, but the summer months will kill you it gets so humid. Housing is also very cheap, but I live in Toronto now and TO is expensive!
We have lived here for nearly 5 decades its a beautiful place to be.The Charlotte light rail paid for itself within a few years. The sun shines over 330 days a year. Its jungle heat for about 4 months. You can fry eggs on the side walks.. That's if you want to.
Wonderlandguy yes I feel the same way about the roads visit there n couldn’t understand why the roads was so confusing. But I do think it’s a beautiful state
@Greeko1959 Looks like that to you, because your city is made of concrete. Our city is mostly suburbs with trees and areas that all don't look the same. Almost none of our best of our lifestyle is right on the surface. You have to hang out at people's houses a while and sit a spell to get into the good stuff.
@sentinal1 They have had te Lynx system since fall 2007. A planned 1.5 mile streetcar is to open in 2014, the Lynx LRT Blue line exstension to UNCC is to open in 2016, and the Lake Norman commuter line is to open in 2018. The UNCC line would be very helpful.
How hot does it get in North Carolina? I don't like NYC summers. I am thinking about relocating somewhere after I finish my BA degree in psychology. NYC is very expensive and there are not many jobs.
Host Burnham home of the Host Burnham Badda Bing in PLB (NBA), while Halifax (Charlotte) has the Crash in PLB, the Halifax Folk Art in MLB, and the Halifax Waves an altered beast in USFL (NFL)
It snows once and maybe twice in a big snow year with maybe one big snow storm every 10 years (6-8 inches, thats big for us). The snow typically lasts less than 36 hours. The biggest issues we face in the winter are ice storms that come around every so often. No snow this year and it stayed in the 40's to 50's this winter dropping down to the 30's for a very short time. It gets plenty cold here in a normal winter (summers the opposite), but usually there is very little snow.
I will be so glad if they can have that train go all around Charlotte from I485 to uptown really isn't much Cats bus line sucks the whole transit system in Charlotte sucks !!!
Don't be fooled, the public transportation system of Charlotte is terrible and the city itself is poorly developed and has zero jobs. Philadelphia is better.
Untrue , Charlotte ranks Number 14 in the States to find the best places to live based on the quality of life and job market. The place has a variety of neighborhoods and life styles with enough diversity to suit everybody.
