Now this is a rare treat. Don't imagine many people recorded the news let alone the news with commercials! Who knew a 30 year old news broadcast could drum up so much nostalgia.
But before we get too nostalgic, look at the first clip - $1100 fine for one gram of weed, and the minister calling you “the scum of humanity” for having it. None of us miss that.
Watching this from a 2022 perspective , the pace of this newscast is really slow Not a bad thing, but comparable major market cities had faster newscasts at this point Looking forward to more of these
minor nitpicking here: this is most likely from May 9th, which was on a Tuesday in '89, and not April 9th as stated above, which was a Sunday and which would not have Lorne Honickman, David Onley, Monika Deol, Peter Silverman etc. doing the newscast (being a Sunday night and all). Saying that: I STILL love watching all these old newsclips from the past. Thanks Retrontario
I paid keen attention to Fax on MuchMusic back in the day. :-p Disagreed with a few friends at the time regarding the pulchritude of the various veejays of the channel. We are no longer friends. jajajajaja
[online dummy voice] I think it's safe to say we've all enjoyed the lunchable sized servings you've given over the years, but these full length meals you've been sharing lately? absolutely delicious.
