曾几何时,此曲萦绕耳畔,祖母歌之,以为童谣。而今斯人已及弱冠,斩波海外,偶遇电游文明,闻此曲,思故国矣! I remember when I was a child, my granny always sing it for me. Right now I'm creating my life abord, when I hear it in the game, I miss my home.
I’ve been rewatching The Avatar recently, and I noticed, this song is played multiple times, and I noticed this song’s beauty the instanced I heard it in the show.
Well if you look at Qin Shi Huang's painting's, you would see the animated one quite faithful. I dunno why ancient Chinese artists like to draw emperors like big and fat, probably to show dominance and authority.
I was a bit confused when you referred to him as Huang... the surname (actually dynastic name) is Qin, so the right ways to refer to this person are Qin, Qin Shihuang, Shihuang, or Emperor Qin
@@sasionx4785 So all along we were taught to call him as literally ''Emperor The First Emperor of the Qin''. Sort of the same thing that happens with Akbar the great.
@@raeaugustus586 why is suit ?? China 5000 years history have a lot dressed why isn't the Chinese tunic suit??or other‘s ??we are a diverse and inclusive nation。just like the Chinese tunic suit It was Mr. Sun Yat-sen who integrated Japanese-style student clothing on the basis of extensively absorbing European and American clothing. you can Google find that to look
Eh, I’m personally not a fan of it. It just feels wrong to see historical figures wearing clothing from a time period they didn’t exist in. Besides, having them in their accurate outfits makes them stand out more.
I am ethnically Chinese and to be fair modern China has adopted some western music practices and it is rightly so to represent the fusion of Chinese and Western music in the industrial and atomic age. Mo Li Hua or Jasmine flower is one of the perfect songs for China as it represents the impeccable gardens, the culture, poetry, philosophy that defines Chinese way of life for thousands of years, regardless of the nasty dictators that ruled her
@@BarryAllen__1A23 China is now the largest opponent to the current US-led world order. I figure being strong enough to throw your weight around like that is something to be proud of.
Oh dear, all emperors, kings, local politicians, even your mother, animal are evil to struggle for lives. It is just the fact of our world. Cats are evil in rat eyes
Now I also know this melody. For the fourth year now, the incredible Dimash Kudaibergen has been singing it at the opening. The first foreigner in Chinese history to be so honored ...)
My fellow Chinese, please...take a break. It’s literally only you and no one else that are disliking this theme song, so what if they didn’t use a lot of traditional Chinese instruments in this? Who said that a good Chinese song must be played strictly by Chinese instrument? I think this whole theme song sounds amazing, especially the Medieval Era part. Well I’d say, Firaxis, you’ve outdone yourselves! :)
I don’t understand the complaint. This song is being played on a guzheng and when you hear the bow/string instruments, that’s an er’hu. Sure they add drums in also, but drums aren’t unknown in Chinese music. Later they do add in more orchestral western brass instruments, but that;s supposed to represent the later time period...
Ikr, it gave me chills, felt like I was watching the birth of a nation. Really channels the feeling of the nanjing era. And the atomic era theme starting was so oddly reminiscent of the launch of the first Chinese satellite and the tune it played from orbit.
In Chinese history, the only dynasties ruled by the Chinese are the Jin, Han, Song, and Ming dynasties, but why is the history of being ruled by the northern people also called Chinese history?
@@jinosong1634 due to the fact that surrounding territories were never able to assimilate China into their culture, but got assimilated into China in the end. Even the Manchurian occupiers named their dynasty in Chinese, gave themselves Chinese names, and in the final years of the Qing dynasty, many of the Manchurian court officials forgot how to speak their own mother tongue. The process of Sinification of invaders is what makes the foreign rulers Chinese in the end.
Believe it or not, he was the only one who accepted to ally me when I started to invade capitals for a domination victory. I was playing as Russia... Thinking of the actual political situation, I feel uncomfortable all of a sudden...
I am a Chinese, have lots of White boy friends, saw the comment section with lots of smack talk, doesn’t bother me at all, I’m just enjoying this beautifully compose master piece.
Harlowe Iasingston its not “more accurate,” because both statements would be 100% correct. Besides, change it to Swedish, English, German. My point is that only asian ethnicities seem obsessed with clarifying their ethnicity. I really dont understand the point- it seems like many of them think theyre special because of it
Harlowe Iasingston It’s not at all. Because the trait of NOT exhibiting this behavior is universal among white people of all ethnicities. So, it doesnt make my point less valid. Also, milk has a viscous texture and sausage doesnt. There, i compared sausage to milk by highlighting their differences. Much like my point here, im simply highlighting differences. Im not sure i understand your point in arguing this, though
We are studying this guy at school, he tortured people pretty badly and burned all the books as well as burying scholars alive to stop anyone from spreading anti qin information. Some means of execution were: tearing apart by four horses running in different directions, cutting the body apart by the waist, cutting the legs off, cutting the nose off, and burying alive. The people working on the Great Wall had bad working conditions and had pretty bad punishments, and many died without seeing their families ever again. But of course, he unified china, constructed china’s first canal, established a universal cart width to build better highways, unified writing, money, and laws, as well as preventing bias on nobility in terms of war services. He expanded the empire and pushed the smaller groups further than ever. However he died while on a royal trip around the country in 210 BC. His ministers helped his younger son to kill the elder son in order to get the throne. The qin dynasty only lasted 18 years, believe it or not.
{ FishChips } Who cares about what he did to people , the only thing that matters is what a man did to his whole nation . And Qin Shi Huangdi did the best he can to make China the greatest empire until this day .
@@hassanbassim4007 What good is a nation if it is built on the sufferings of it's people? What good is a great and wealthy empire if the people within it are unhappy and poor? Qin may have unified the empire, but he new nothing about making it a prosperous and happy one. Only Confucius knew that.
Mad Hatter he made the people happy , by stopping a war that lasted 300 years . He made Chinese people live in peace for 400 years under Han dynasty , even after China broke again , it didn’t last long until it came to peace once again . Peace is happiness, not imaginary dreams .
They kind of have to in order to make it recognizable to the western audience. People enjoy familiar stuff, so the further east you get, the more you'll have to combine traditional instruments with western stuff to get something familiar and yet exotic.
I can enjoy good music, whether it is played on the classical instruments of the East or the ones in the West. It sounds beautiful in every version. And guess finding a orchestral amount of people playing the stuff you want them to on such instruments can be pretty hard.
Why, this is the guy who used chariots to tear apart the boy toy of his own mother, brought the entire China to their knees, mobilized probably a million slave labor to build him a freaking huge harem, and another one million to dig him an equally freaking huge tomb out of a mountain to be filled with the world's earliest and largest collection of man sized action figure army, sent an entire fleet of socerers and virgins off to the ocean in search for some elixir, and eventually died among a pile of rotten fish...
I saw some angry CHINESE pissed off because of a video game using famous CHINESE folk music for a CHINESE leader, funny. Would be funny if civ7 uses Chinese national theme as BGM and every Chinese mainlander will be happy. LUL
@account that made in Korea Yeah, but do you know what he had done to make China better ? no, you don't . You just heard them telling you the one thing that seems bad done by Mao and you assume he's bad. History is not that simple ,kid
@account that made in Korea no, he does not understand that there was a better government before the communist government (i am a socialist and i cant even stand to call mainland China a communist government). He thinks Taiwan is an rebel island and a fake China. He rly needs some more education..
I am Chinese and I am a bit enraged when I hear this. I typically mute sound when play as China. It also bothers me that they used the SAME song of 茉莉花 for two generations of a great game. True that the song is popular in OVERSEA Chinese population, but they only represent a small fragment of southern Chinese. How shallow it is to not recognize this fact. This song is not even that old and only became popular in Late Qing Dynasty, it hardly fits a ruler who lived about two millennium ago. Seriously any pick from countless great ancient Chinese folk songs can represent Chinese civilization better. /End salt.
Lunarsong Sirohane The British theme is from a song popularised only in the late sixties and is still beautiful, despite being about a tiny village I did not know about despite living in England. The Greece theme has been repeated, and for two civs in one game: Pericles and Gorgo and yet is still as powerful as when I first heard it (especially after hearing it's the oldest full song on earth about a man, Seikilos I think, and a message to his dead wife.) Just think of it as it's own amazing adaptation of the song!
If you want authenticity, don't play this game - short of the USA being able to build the 'great wall'. The name also "CHINA" doesn't exist in the ancient era so you're now going to get offended by that? How about lets all get offended at the fact the geographical location is wrong on the maps and "as a Chinese" you are going to get offended. Oh wait its also offensive that the instruments are wrong, or the other hundreds of things that are 'inaccurate'.
No, my friend. I didn't mention a thing about authenticity. I am not pleased because they recycle (if not abuse) this folk song. I think "misrepresented" is the better word to describe my problem with this soundtrack. Qin Shi Huang's reign was too ancient so maybe it's hard for game-maker to find music that suits him (Same can be said to many other leaders). As a Civ fan I am tolerant to "XXXX was build in far away land" just as other players. My rant is purely about the music.
As an Asian myself, I can categorically say that it's only Asians who could be this petty about something like this. Be happy your culture is even in the game. Not all of us get the chance. You reveal your stupidity when you claim the song represents a portion of Southern China only- any song made to represent China would have the same problem considering how diverse China is. You don't see the Russians or the Indians whining about their themes representing only one ethnic group/language/region whatever.
