Civic Track Testing: Power Brake vs. Manual Brakes

We test the difference between power brakes and manual brakes on a 1997 Honda Civic EK at Barber Motorsports Park. We start with the stock power brake system and then swap it out for a Chase Bays Dual-Piston Brake Booster Delete. We see a significant improvement in lap times with the manual brakes, shaving off over 6 seconds. We also discuss the importance of proper setup, good pads, and an adjustable bias valve in improving the car's performance.
We headed over to Barber Motorsports Park to Test our 97 Honda Civic OE Power Brake Booster against our Chase Bays Dual Piston Brake Booster Delete w/ 6:1 Bolt-On Pedal Ratio. Our civic was equipped with Falken RT660 200A tires.
The day started out pretty tough with a check valve issue on the OEM BB system (yet another reason to ditch it). So we spent hours trying to sort out that problem. We did so successfully and were finally able to hit the track and lay a baseline time down of 1:57.41 on the stock setup.
We immediately swapped over to the Dual Piston Brake Booster Delete with Bolt-On 6:1 Pedal Ratio to see how much we could improve times by only swapping that singular part. It took us longer to bleed the brakes than it did for us to swap components. Once that was complete, we hit the track again, immediately hitting a 1:51.37.
We had a theoretical time of 1:46.911. That is with the generic 7 sectors of Barber via AIM.

@Chase Bays clearly the power brake delete kit absolutely kills on track, but what is it like on the street? Like on a DD? That civic is so beautiful and your products are so fire high quality r&d tested just mint!

It’s alright. Hurts my back sometimes from always slamming my brake pedal lol. I’m running some bullshit pads to but some hawks might be better

Ive had this unit on my daily for over a year. Its amazing. i prefer the feel. and with the new ratio I don't put any real effort into the braking until 10mph to 0. and that's minimal.

@@ssjdavid do you have the first gen or the new version of the delete? Shouldnt be hurting your back slamming on the pedal with the new version. And deff want quality pads with this set up. they even recommend it.

Your pistons in your calipers are probably too big for power brakes or your pedal ratio it wrong.
