Civic Type R / 2022 BRZ - 3,000 Mile Road Trip DETAILED Breakdown 

Man I’ve been watching your videos from the beginning, and I’m happy to see you and Viv grow together as you are, and how you’re still just you being you. No BS, always asking people what they want to see or hear or what you could do better, keeping in some of the “embarrassing” things or outtakes, Vivian’s contributions/always asking to go get some food, including your pets in the videos, all great. Keep it real man, glad you made it safe and sound!

For road trips, I definitely enjoy cars with more horsepower. I have cars from Miata to C7 Corvette to Model 3. Low HP car is annoying to drive a long time on the highway because of the lack of passing power and high RPM at 70mph+.

The last 10 seconds of the video driving the R is how I feel every time I drive mine. There is just something about it….ooooo how it feels soooo good.

i have a 22 SI and i have to say the seats are pretty good and ive also noticed it gets better mpg when in 6th gear at about 3500rpm compared to 3000rpm 🤷

IMO you buying the BRZ was one of the best decisions you've made for your channel. I think your channel will blow up when you start doing mods to it. You're entertaining and just seem like a stand up guy. The BRZ will pull in the views and they'll stay for you.

Good comparison. Eyeing a GR86 myself at some point in the future, so this was helpful. Probably won't spend 69 hours straight inside it though, as cross-country road trips just aren't a thing in my neck of the woods. I have a GD1 Jazz (aka Fit in the US) to which I fitted Recaro SRD seats from either the DC2 or EK9 Type Rs. Those were a godsend. The stock seats are too short in the squab, so my clutch-pressing left knee went unsupported on longer drives; the SRDs fixed that and are perfect for drives of 13 or 14 hours. Seems like the FK8R seats continue that tradition.

Great video and fun to watch. I totally agree with visibility issues. I had the same problems with my Black 2014 Mazda Miata. I fixed the issue by driving with my headlights and fog lights on all the time. I'm doing the same now with my Red 2021 Type R, I'm being noticed more and people are getting out of my way! PS...Florida is famous for DWHUA!

Amazing Cameron leave the bloopers in good stuff. Being that I know you will keep and maintain the Type R well... Know that Honda's are built to last. With a 2007 Si Sdn with 253K I still average 28 to 30 Mpg.

My Civic ended up getting flooded tonight so make sure you’re careful with these random storms that can happen down here luckily the water only got up to about the top of my wheel but not quite to the top of my tires so it wasn’t much but it was enough to cause my engine to not be able to crank likely because my PRL intake got some water in it. Put in a claim with my insurance and they’re coming to take a look at it soon and they covered the tow truck after the cop and my girlfriend (who I told to turn the wheel but she was too scared and worried about not being able to do it/damaging the car considering she was having a panic attack because the whole situation) were able to get it into a parking lot. Worst part is we were two minutes away from the house. Hope all is good with you man and hopefully one day you can do a meet up and I can catch you there.

Type R is based on a hatchback and FWD. Can never have the low cog feeling of a bespoke sports car like the twins 👌

it is good to know that with all the mods and tune u have done to your CTR, it could still average over 30 mpg on the freeway. i live in san francisco, and with all the crazy traffic and hills here, my CTR could only do roughly 18mpg. and 91octane price just broke $6/gal a couple of weeks ago.

My fiance has a type R, I still like the driving aspect of my 86 better, handling wise... I haven't had a good chance to see the difference between the 2 because I've only driven hers once.

love the brz/gr86 but the final gearing is too short and subsequently revs too high at highway cruising speeds. seems like most newer manual trans cars are guilty of this, very few have tall final gearing.

I was actually just thinking about cost of driving across country vs having it shipped. In your case with the BRZ I think you're looking at around $750 to drive it back (food, fuel, flight) not including the 30 hrs of driving time or extra miles in depreciation vs. about $1000 to have it shipped via train. - Well either way you're a trooper, I don't have the patience to do these super long road trips anymore, well unless I was part of gumball or something lol
