Civil War GOLD FOUND at a Union Campsite! Metal Detecting Civil War Relics 

Great hunt!! It doesn’t matter if it’s on the Trail or an obscure CW campsite, old coins and relics are always a thrill to find!

I wouldn't use a spray bottle when detecting... I heard it can take patina off the coin... I would just use a soft bristle toothbrush, dry. Don't use medium or hard, because they're more likely to scratch the coin.

Nice to see the "dudes" back at the detecting hunts once again. 😉 Was this back along the Oregon Trail or a bit further down from there? Having a large wide-open field like that to detect is pretty nice, I'm sure. No chances of getting into wires or other electrical dangers.

When you clean, or even just wipe, a coin -- it diminishes its value greatly. Avoid the urge to wipe it with your thumb. Only use the water spray to remove the dirt.
