Only house rule I tend to use is leaving out the map tiles with the relics(atlantis etc). We find they are too swingy.

Yeah they are. City-States are clunky as well

@@Warrior_Whitten sometimes we leave out great people cards and just play the tiles, the card abilities are crazy swingy

@@Warrior_Whitten when I was playing a lot I had a fun strategy that focused almost exclusively on getting great people via philosophy. It really snowballed.

why did you have two hut and village tokens on each hut and village on the map? is that one of your house rules?

Yes, it helps the game a lot. I did not play with roaming barbs though
