Definitely picking one of these up. Maybe a few. No brainier for $42 to replace my cheap plastic utility knives

The design of this knife is really smart. I think the T8 blade change is great, so there’s not a big thick mechanism in the cutting path. Just wish it had a different handle design, as IMO the elementum pattern looks a bit out of place in this context. If this had something like the Banter handle… that would be amazing. Thanks for doing a disassembly here! Really good to see the internal construction.

I cannot believe they brought a knife this nice to market that requires a tooled blade change. I watched a video with one of the company execs promising a tooless blade change when this knife was in the R & D phase. Much like the Gerber EAB utility knife, we'll have to wait for an outside vender to offer a knurled finger screw that WE/Civivi couldn't figure out. A small T8 bit integrated in the handle would've been a nice feature.

Well .. Are you not actually carrying any kind of multitools? Maybe they were trying to eliminate blade play… Tell all of you what to do Go out and start your own knife company R&D the bestest utility knife ever And i will buy yours and make a video about where you all failed or succeeded.

To be fair though unless it also carried a spare blade as well, there’s no point. Just keep the tool with the spare blades.

Civivi should have used a thumb screw like the Kumpanter

@luvthemknives hello have you experienced the screw coming loose and the blade flying out when you open it or just coming loose. I want to get one but keep hearing about this.

I haven’t had that problem but I haven’t used it much.

Not a fan of the whole utility blade folder craze.

Don't worry, they're not gonna replace regular knives. Having more options is always good.

Really inexpensive? I wouldn't really agree with that. Thoughtful and somewhat different, I have no objections. I wouldn't pay more than 6.66 including postage 😇

Then I guess you wouldn’t want to pay $300 for the Chaves version. 🤣🤣

Am I the only one who strongly dislikes aluminum handles? Give me G10, micarta, or Ti

Too bad you need a tool to remove the blade. Rather carry my $10 Milwaukee fastback

It's a trade off. Screw holding the blade down gets rid of the rattle, and in this model, gives you access to more cutting edge. It's a good setup for people that carry it more than cutting with it. But if you have a job where you might go thru more than 1 blade in the same day, I agree, the scew is a downer. But for occassional cutters that might change the blade every 3 months or so? It's good.

@@jamesmin2837 I was actually discussing this with the Civivi rep at their booth yesterday at Blade HQ. They mentioned the same thing with having more exposed cutting edge on the blade which I see can be beneficial. They said they even tried a knurled screw to eliminate the need for a tool but it was too bulky to work. I suppose this is a good option for most people. I’m constantly changing blades so not for me.
