Nothing more satisfying than seeing an old Jeep back to life

@@mwilliamshs nor 99.9% of the people on this planet 🤷🏽‍♂️ But I've successfully increased the surface energy of anatase TiO2 with N atoms making it more suitable for photoassisted water electrolysis for H production. That was also quite satisfying 😂

I know this was several years ago, but I just watched it for the first time (I'm a subscriber). It brought back some fond memories. Back about 2002, my son and I re-built a 3B from the ground up. We made a few changes that I think were worthwhile improvements. This was during the early years of the Internet, so Google was pretty much a new idea. I found that the front brake brackets, calipers, and rotors from an early 1970s Chevy Blazer (Dana44) would bolt right onto the Dana axles of the 3B, the only adjustment being a spacer about 3/16" thick to center the rotors in the calipers. I got the pedal cluster, including the mounting plate, from a mid-90s Jeep Cherokee and bolted it to the firewall to get rid of the through-the-floor original pedals. I also took the clutch master and slave cylinders and mounted the slave under the floorboard in place of the original master cylinder - easy, peasy. I believe I bought a dual reservoir brake master cylinder and proportioning valve from Summit Racing (or some similar company) and mounted that to the Cherokee pedal assembly on the firewall. This was all road-legal, due to the original parking brake being mounted on the output driveshaft on the transfer case. We had a full 6-point roll cage built on it, a 4" lift, mid-90s seats from a Wrangler, and ran 33" tires. Man, that thing could climb a tree! We always said it took awhile to get up to top speed, but it would stop on a dime! Lots of fun.

Old timers always called the 3B’s “high-hoods.” It’s funny, nobody seemed to want them compared to 2A’s and 3A’s. Now they’re a rare collectible. Nobody really appreciated the F-head, but it was a big improvement from the L-head. I think a 3B is a cooler setup than an early CJ5 anyway. I wish Willys/Kaiser would have kept the fenders and hoods flat. Thanks for taking it back to “original.” I dig this setup and look forward to more of your videos. Subscribed!

Thanks! I like all the flat fenders, too, I really don't care for the "funny fender" CJ-5's and up. Soon I'm going to do a F-head in a 2A without cutting a hole in the hood. I've got the stubby carb needed already sitting on my workbench...

I agree. Much rather see an F134 go in it than another LS swap! Nothing against updating but nice to see some kept somewhat original!

I was fortunate enough to purchase a 3B back in the fall of 2022. It's tagged, titled and very road worthy. I finally got my wife to ride in it with me several times. She finally said it looks nice and she enjoys riding along with our German Shepherd. Life is gud. Thanks for sharing the video, RT

Just came across your videos today. Great stuff. I've been tinkering on 2 projects for years now. A 43 GPW and a 64 cj3b. Both run but only 1 drives... Keep the old jeep videos coming 👍. Got some inspiration to get out there and wrench some more. Thanks 😊

Thanks! You've got two good ones, I love the old military grill, and the extra legroom of the high hood. I've got some more stuff coming, working on the rustiest F-head in the world tonight...

I picked up a flathead 4 Willys engine, transmission, transfer case. I did see an old CJ 2 without motor, but passed it up..Should have bought it! But I have several Jeep projects, and a rough 33 Studebaker, just no time....

Great video - you have amazing mechanical talent, know-how, and ingenuity! You have a cool channel that will grow for sure. Question - is it the camera lens playing tricks on my eyes or are the tires different sizes between the front and the rear?

Most parts between different brands are not inter changable. I cannot even start too think on how too go about finding a starter that is for a 40 year newer different brand 4x4 that would work. Must of just started looking at catalogs for something similar. In this case maybe online catalog

I had heard about that trick years back when building a FC-150, and it worked great. I think I heard it from a message board or something like that.

Which year/model of land cruiser starter works? I'm guessing you need a specific tooth count on the cj ring gear? Thanks, in advance.
@LowBuckGarage
@LowBuckGarage Год назад
The direct drive starter is for a '65-'82 land cruiser, the gear reduction one is '83-'92. I've used both with no problems. I've had them with the F-head 129 tooth ring gear, which is the one found on CJ-3B, 5, 6, M38A1, FC-150 and others.

Do you have a part number for the Toyota starter?
@LowBuckGarage
@LowBuckGarage 3 года назад
I used a Pure Energy 16224, for a 65-82 Toyota Land Cruiser. I've heard that the mid-80's Land Cruiser uses the same bolt pattern and gear, but are a gear reduction version. They are more expensive, though.
