"The demolition derby going on in my brain." A very apt description of dementia.

Near the end of my mom's life, before she lost the ability to talk, a nurse came into the room and during small talk had asked if I had any kids. When I said 'no' my mom said for me to not lie, that I had two kids, Carolyn and Phyllis. Who in reality are my half sisters. She was seeing my dad, who had died twenty years earlier, not me. And I was sitting six feet from her.

To anyone needing help, it is not a weakness to accept help. It does take courage and strength to accept help. Let your family help you if they are offering. It is a kindness you can do for them.

I saw this around the time my grandfather was dying of Alzheimer's. It is a well done portrayal.

IMO, this is the best stand-alone episode of the West Wing period.

Its been two decades since I have watched a lot of TWW and this like a lot of the acting and writing feels so real. My mom died a few years before this episode aired and I am closer to her age now. Dementia, luckily for for her, was only right at the end. Heartbreaking to see.

I mean, damn. That's just some great acting.

Dementia is insidious. My grandmother went from super intelligent to a child in less than five years. This was a bit overdramatized but it still was heart wrenching.

It’s been several years since I watched TWW. I can’t remember this scene. My grandmother passed away a few years ago and had Dementia/Alzheimer’s. I still have the voicemails saved of her from when she’d call, thinking she was calling my dad, crying because the family had abandoned her in a care facility. My dad saw her 1-2 times a week, so it was always a gut punch for her to say no one had seen her in months, & knowing it wasn’t true.

I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy.

Loved that actor in "The Thing."

If this account is taking requests, I would like to see the end of the episode where the president gives his victory speech and afterward the first lady notices he missed some lines, all the way to the end

A difficult episode, but an important one. Jon Robin Baitz outdid himself.
