I just wanted to leave a compliment to the creator of this video. Good job not just making another highlight reel but showing The Good the Bad and the Ugly in regards to a first round draft pick. Definitely shows a weakness in the player gives up on plays not a tackler so help change my perspective. Keep up the good films
@@cowboyjay21 I wouldn't write Henderson off so fast. Half of his exposures were when he was pushed to the edge of his zone, and Diggs, etc. had a few plays that escaped them. He is a really good man corner, and with some good coaching, his tackling should turn out fine. Diggs def had a bit cleaner play, but Henderson is still a great option.
This is the reason why only looking at targets is bad (ignoring reality). Generally 50% completion rate on a target is amazing. He is the only corner in the draft to play on an island with no show of help. People can't even tell that some of the in breaking routes are zone. Hes just talented enough to drive on the ball. Smh. Good work on the video. It's funny that he locked down several slants in full game tape but the QB went to a different read cuz it was locked. People got all this time and cant even watch the full game. This kid gonna be a baller.
At this point in his career. You can't teach tackling. He brings almost nothing to the table in run defense. I like his speed to chase down ball carriers, but if you catch the ball in front of him, it's an easy 5-7 more yards after the catch. I love his cover skills. Not in love with his toughness or his willingness to get physical with ball carriers.
Looking at only targets is bad? Empirically speaking, bad completion rates in college usually translate to bad complete rates in the pros. Which isn't to say good cornerback completion rates automatically translate, as a self proclaimed analyst, I understand defensive line/pass rush talent, quarterback talent/time & ability to throw, receiver talent, subject cornerback talent, and especially on Henderson's case, defensive scheme, all culminate into how a cornerback looks on tape, which is the premise of these videos. In Henderson's case, going back to scheme fit and subject talent to give him a grade, which to me is top 15. As in, you can see that he's capable of playing in space, he's capable of driving on slants and in breaking routes from an outside technique, I've said a few times that if I'm drafting him, he's going to play more of a head up/inside technique in a heavy man Coverage scheme, which is what I imagine (and seen) most teams that are considering him seriously currently employ (he's been linked with the raiders, cowboys, falcons, and titans, who are all man based, and or cover 3 heavy defenses).
@@romain1752 I said only looking at targets. Objectively I know you watch a ton of film as do I. We both understand that henderson played more without safety help or anyone near him than any other top corner in coverage. Ohio state plays a cover 1/3 scheme. Henderson plays in more of a mixed defense with usually no safety help. Without a safety playing off and driving on routes is what you are taught to do. Therefore slants will just be given up at a higher rate than having a single high overtop. I never said looking a targets is bad. I said only looking at them is bad. Because you will never know how many times a QB looks a CBS way and doesnt target him. It is way better to look at this vs a highlight tape. No question, but for people to blatantly say he cant play slants or posts is just insane. You can't know unless you watch the full tape and understand scheme and which technique the corners are playing. Football is very nuanced. CJ is usually alone back there. In your jeff okudah target tape. He had a single high over the top 90%percent of the time. CJ was trusted with 1v1 much more. That doesnt mean CJ is better but when saying things about henderson we gotta be objective as to what we are talking about in terms of a corners responsibility. I'm not saying you. I'm saying people knocking CJ without fully understanding his responsibility.
Looking at just targets is tough because the QB generally only throws it at him when his man beats him. We aren’t seeing all the times he blankets his man and the QB moves on to the next progression.
Konnor Ternus that’s what I was thinking also his speed allows for him to allow no easy catches the receiver is gonna to have to make a very good catch every time vs him doesn’t allow much stuff where there’s no contact at the point of catch
I like him alot after this video, I think a lot of his few mistakes were just mental and thats something that can easily be fixed..he does have to become a better tackler though although I think his injury played a big factor in his tackling issue..great blitzer and great in man coverage, good rip through also
A lot of y’all saying he’s bad because he’s getting beat on routes and he can’t get interceptions. But y’all don’t take into account that a lot of the times he’s getting beat is because the scheme and play call of the other team. Most of the time it’s slants that he is getting beat on. He did a great job covering the slant most of the time the only reason they were catching it on him was because he was trying to keep everything in front by playing off his man not giving away the deep ball that’s not his fault just part of the scheme set up by his defensive coordinator. If you watch his bump and run coverage and press coverage his technique is great and coverage is phenomenal. His zone coverage is average needs a little work and his tackling needs some work too. Overall he would be a great pick up for teams. He would be a lockdown corner from the start and if he improves his tackling and a little bit of his zone coverage He could be a all pro corner. I see a lot of Casey Hayward and stephon Gilmore in him.
Greg Waters He bench pressed and all those slants route he got beat on in man coverage happens to everyone in the league personally I think his make up speed will help a lot unlike a lot of other corners his speed showed up on tape
I like this video. Showing the good and the bad. The bad is just as important. I seen a mock draft with Denver taking him but after this video not sure he’s a first rounder. Thank you 🙏🏽
Good job to the creator of this video, but in evaluation, take 'targets only' film with a grain of salt. You have to remember, most cbs are on the field every play all game long. Corners make their money by not allowing targets towards them, and these targets are generally the 15-30% of their coverage time where they slip up.
yeah, but what is more important is finding out how they handle being targeting because in the NFL your first pick is supposed to be the guy who guards the opposing teams best receiver so he WILL be targeted because in the NFL you target your best player it isn't l like highschool or college it is a completely different game. So when you think about it, you are very wrong if a player is never targeted then he should not be a first round pick because he may not be able to play the ball or he may be a PI machine and guys who get way to handsy do not survive in the NFL.
NFL is going to be a different game. On one hand, he'll probably get set up for more success with better coaching. But on the other hand, he'll be playing against much better WRs and QBs.
Henderson isn’t perfect, but he’s noticeably better than Fulton and Diggs. Just as sticky as Fulton on the outside, but better at staying with his man on crossing routes, and actually gets his head turned around to play the ball. He also plays quicker and faster than both Fulton and Diggs. Obviously needs to do a better job tackling though.
If Henderson played more inside technique, he would probably be considered Head and Shoulders the best corner in this draft. He's never going to line up against any receiver and be outmatched athletically, but the technique that he and his coaches decide on is what's going to make or break him in the league.
Romain I agree with you. I’m a Raiders fan, and I’d rather my team draft him than either Fulton or Diggs. The problem is that they’d probably have to take him at pick #12, and that would mean giving up on having the chance to draft one of the top 3 WR’s in the draft. I don’t see any realistic scenario where Henderson falls to pick 19. Great job on these videos, by the way. Much better tool for evaluating prospects than those highlight vids that almost everyone else makes.
@@edwinramos4910 in their system, if they're playing a lot of man to man, I'd be okay with a slight reach at 12. This is a deep receiver draft, with productive and pro bowl talent likely being available well into the third or even fourth rounds.
He needs to stop trying to bait and to smother the receiver. He has the patience and ability to lock a guy down. But he hesitates too much. Unless these blow plays are due to poor safety play he needs to just play straight up. He really can be a lock down corner.
Why are all y’all hating on him he is clearly the 2nd best corner in the draft and there’s a substantial drop off until you get to 3rd best. A bunch of corners in the mix for 3rd but I’ll go with Igbinoghene from Auburn.
He looks to be the 3rd best corner after Arnette imo. Arnette is so underrated. At times he plays better than Okudah in some of the games this year. Arnette is more physical of a corner too. His major flaw is he is sometimes too physical and will get flagged.
Nice prospect lots of upside lots of raw ability but not worth the Raiders 1st 1st round pick maybe second first better not be reaching on corners again
Wesley Newman yes bro I’m tryna find what cornerback would fit us best at 19 Ik the hype has kinda faded on Trevon Diggs but I really like his game I think if we get Gladney/ Terrell/ Hall/Diggs with a trade down from 19 I’ll be happy
the corners in this draft are awful. Okudah elite #1 everyone else looks like a #2 or #3 corner to me. My raiders need a corner bad but none of these guys are worth a first round grade. However I do like all 3 safetys Delpit, Mckinney, Winfield Jr.
They dont show playes where he locks down and the ball never comes out so it's a little misleading. We all know he isnt perfect, no CB is but it would be nice to see some dominant CBB play where the QB doesnt even try lol.
If the Falcons waste the 1st round pick on this guy, the season is over before it begins. He's no better than Trufant was. There are PLENTY of CB's available later in the draft that will fit better in the Atlanta defensive scheme.
Ess Ess where do you think we should go? I think the majority of the fan base wants Kinlaw who I don’t believe will be there @16. I personally like Kenneth Murray. I have mixed feelings about this kid Henderson.
ZakkuTV he has more picks in his college career than Jeffrey okudah so that’s a poor take and the fact u grade cb performance on picks confirms to me even more ur cb evaluations are flawed
Not impressed with Henderson. Has great speed, bad technique. He can’t cover the slant or any in breaking route. He is not good in zone. Doesn’t get interceptions and is one of the worse tacklers I’ve seen.
Interceptions aren't everything. Besides, he has three more interceptions than Okudah. Furthermore, in the NFL being able to play man is the most important
Corey Worthy his junior tape doesn’t always show that. His freshman year he was good but not lockdown. His sophomore year was by far the best. He looked like a lockdown corner but from this video I wasn’t impressed
Devante Smith I think it’s pretty clear that him being banged up this past season is what effected a lot of his productivity in comparison to 2018. You mentioned how he’s poor on slants and in breaking routes but in 2018 he was nearly perfect on all of those . That type of skill and anticipation doesn’t just disappear. Did he have a down year in comparison to the previous season ? Sure , but when healthy he’s just as good in coverage as Okudah is . He also has more INTS and isn’t as bad as a tackler as people make him seem to be .
So is that stat you go off of for rating your cornerbacks? He doesn’t have any interceptions because no one throws the ball his way. Go watch soccer or something Jose
@@deeznuts4910 Everybody loves interceptions don't you? You must be Stupid and all this time been watching soccer that's one of the main reasons why the Cowboys didn't want to pay him!
