I just picked up a 77 cj5 myself.. The previous owner swapped in a amc 360 and a disc brake dana 30 but left the t150 in and kept it manual brakes lol I'm planing to find a t18 for it and hang a brake booster Only reason I want a t18 is for granny low otherwise the t150 seems to be holding up just fine behind the 360
Awesome. I’m going to try to retain the T150 in this and maybe sell the T15 in the other one. This will be keeping the 258 and not seeing much hard trail riding. Thanks for the confidence booster on the T150!
Im sure youll be just fine then.. the previous owner of my jeep drove it for 7 years with the amc 360/t150 with 35s before he parked it, the strain of manual steering and brakes was too much for him as he got older with his arthritis.. I Subscribed, Cant wait to see the next update video
Hey man, I forgot about marking the yoke and shaft when taking mine apart. Is this going to be a problem? Thanks for these videos, btw. My grandparents gave me a 77 cj5 a couple months ago. I have it torn down all the way except the axles, motor, trans, and transfer case. Going to paint the axles and put in new bearings and seals, but going to run the drive train as-is. Only has 50k miles on it and minimal rust, due to spending its life in the high desert of California, but these Jeep’s seem to be rust buckets so I’m going to mitigate all of that by stripping and painting. Anyway, I really appreciate these videos. Thanks again.
Very cool! You’ll probably be fine. It’s just a way to help ensure you don’t get driveline vibrations. Technically if you didn’t have vibrations before and you put it back in the same way, you won’t have vibrations when it’s back together. Odds are that you’ll be just fine
I am not familiar with shops in that area. I know that Holly from the Mischief Maker RU-vid channel lives up that way. She could probably recommend somewhere for you
