I used to own one myself. My favorite mod while I owned the car was removing the mid muffler and replacing the stock mufflers with 9th gen civic si mufflers. Gave it the sound it should've had from the factory!
These cars are incredible, so comfortable inside and double wishbone suspension front and rear, they make incredible track cars with the abilty to be driven day to day. With basic bolt on mods (cold air intake, header, exhaust, rbc inlet manifold, 50 degree vtc gear) its not uncommon to see these make 150-160kw atw while still giving you 10L per 100kms
i was shocked not gonna lie.. i'm not a honda guy n was thinking this wasn't gonna be all that great... speed still wasn't that great but man the car overall was really really solid, n for 15 years old down right unbelievable
@@RossReviewsau ive been a nissan guy all my life from the day ive had my license over the last 12 years. Had a 200rwkw r32 gtst, 400kw rb25/30 r33, 300kw rb25 s13, 250kw s15 and currently 600kw s15. It came by coincidence, while i was building my 2.2 stroker sr20 ve motor i needed a daily, picked up an ep3 type r for cheap, needless to say it was mind blowing out of the box how good it was, it would blow the doors off an s15 stock for stock and around a track leave the s15 for dead. Never planned to mod it but before i knew it i had modified it with all the bolt on parts and suspension mods, took it to wakefield and ran faster than most my mates evos there on the day. Now i know the type r and accord euro are 2 different cars, but they share a similar platform and believe it or not the k24s found in the accord is more potent than the k20 in the type r, they respond better and make more power mod for mod. For the euro ive had afew friends ive met after owing my ep3 who drive their accords everyday to work in comfort then take it to the track after changing the wheels over for some semi slicks and believe or not they are very quick, some doing 1.09s around wakefield park with just basic bolt on mods, coilovers and semis
@@Blackqueens89 i agree with you the first genereation is much better looking. the Second generation has an ugly diamond grill but as a car itself it seems to get good reviews and is well made.
Makes me so thrilled to watch this, I have a 2005 from when it was new, now with 373,000 km and absolutely love it. Made my day. Found your channel from the Monaro thank you.
Ross Reviews yep! Still original engine, and transmission. Did routine maintenance throughout its life and I push it to 7,200 rpm almost daily with no issues. Only issue I’m having is a/c at the moment. I hope your channel grows further than what it is now, really really impressed by your high quality of videos and that Ute is something else! Subscribed! Take care mate!
They really do need a reflash to be any fun to drive, in stock form the changeover is at 6000rpm with redline at 7000rpm, while the first cam profile falls off around 4000-4500 giving you a dead spot in the acceleration. Reflashed they change over when the first cam profile dies off and rev to 7800 easily, pulling much harder through the whole rev range. 10/10 best mod I did to mine
yea this make sense hopefully ill be able to review another one thats had some work done to it like you mentioned.. would be good to see the difference
@@gfrizzleshizzlemanizzle You can still reflash the ecu with an auto CL9, it just doesn't make quite as much of a difference as on a manual one, but a reflash and a cold air intake is sub $700 and will make throttle response much more crisp and give it a bit more go throughout most of the rev range. Headers and a less restrictive cat is a good mod to do after that once you feel like spending a bit more money on it
I can say the same, I have the 2.2 i-CTDi (N22 turbo diesel). I have a 2006 Executive Navi facelift model, it adds some equipment like Bluetooth and a trip computer. I've added Honda's A-Spec kit (Honda sports suspension) and it looks great. It should have 310k kms by now but for the last month it has barely left the garage.
Abel Jovani I absolutely love this car, but I think trying out any Alfa Romeo with the Busso V6 (a GT 3.2 for example) might make you change your mind... if you take care of it, it will be reliable.
I've owned the USDM 2005 Acura TSX version for over 13 years now. A few cosmetic & performance upgrades here & there. Sporty, agile, economical, and easy to do maintenance on. In a stable of cars, it's my go to for just about everything. Love it!
@@RossReviewsau Yessir!👍People often ask what year my car is and they're always surprised when I say 2005. They just assume it's a newer model or something more current LoL. I'll take the simple yet sexy lines of my car over most of today's ugly configurations out there on the road.
I'm planning on getting one of these as my first car in a few months, love the VTEC but I'd 100% do a reflash and "cold air" intake just for the sound.
I own the 2004 estate with 2.0 i-vtec. The touchscreen still does work perfectly as well as the rest of the buttons and switches. Still rides perfectly. I really respect Honda's QA.
I have a silver cl9 euro luxury which I bought for 11k cash w/ 58,000 km full honda service history from a dealer, from my own experience this car saved me a lot of fortune very reliable and fuel efficient. Just don't miss the service schedule and the car will love you back.
You can build in an adapter for Bluetooth, aux, sd, usb connectivity. I have one in my Cl9 2007 from yatour, it´s great and simple to install, just plug it in the connector below your radio
Must do mods in order. NR1 Reflash, NR2 change gear ratios, NR3 thicker rear sway bar, NR4 header+highflow cat+intake. catback doesn´t do alot for them but does look good and I also think the Type-S lips are a must. Loved all of my accords and one of my favorite cars was my 06 cl9 Type-S.
I have my 2002 cl7 accord 20EL JDM imported! I have almost 200’000 km everyday trashing the car , that motor just won’t die🤣 strong as f but i keep my maintenance lol its my daily car! Love it so much! I own a black one
These cars are amazing, just picked up an 06 CL9, the body, the handling, the engine, all fantastic, the only thing that lets this car down is the rather conservative factory tune, and the oddly long gearing from 2nd and up, everything else is perfect, throw some headers, catback exhaust, intake and a reflash on it and it becomes a high revving NA street monster!
@@tristanhilston absolutely, the engine is so conservative from the factory, a good flash tune with some bolt ons opens the engine up so much, how it should have been from the factory!
@Ambient bloody oath man, I'd get new brakes and install a digital reverse camera and other stuff that could be possible to add into the car, would be decent if we could see one with like newer model rims and a few other things on it, I really like these cars and they still look good
got mine a week ago, 85,000 ks 6 speed manual. Still waiting excitedly for it to be delivered. I’m sure I’ll love it. have test driven one way back in 2004 and loved it then. 16 years on and still paid 1/3 of the original price but worth it.
it is a little soulless i can see that.. i'm not sure if they liven up with bolt on mods.. would be great if they did just to give them a bit more character.. but for a solid daily thats cheap, reliable, n still comfy n stylish.. what a winner
In EU WE got the Diesel 2.2 140hp, quick remap to 190hp, 400Nm of torque at 2krpm, and it does the 80 to 120 in 4s. Wheel spacers, -35mm, and it looks so good.
Late to the video, but I bought my first car last month, and I chose the exact same model, minus a year. Absolutely beautiful inside, with the outside having a clean finish. Could not ask for a better first car. Drivers test is also 2 days from now 🤞🤞
I have an auto CL9 euro, lowered reflashed, exhaust and intake modified, it's a heap of fun, turns heads and suprises people, owes me about 12k all up, such a great looking car and fun to drive
2014 V6 accord here. Current tank at 480 miles recording 36mpg in 80/20 highway/city. Credit to how efficient the V6 is with the VCM turning the motor into an I3.
Got a 2010 Euro Lux & love it. I'm an old fart at 64 that spent most of his life on M'cycles and the Honda makes me smile a lot when I'm out on a road trip to NSW or Tasmania! I'd buy it again.
Great review Ross. A Honda car from a time when they actually were an innovating force to compete with others. Owner should be very chuffed with his/her car. Nice example on Perth roads.
You got aux usb and jack input, you have a free slot behind the stereo, and You route it through the glovebox. The cool things is the steering wheel controls work with the usb input, and also if you press and hold aux, the stereo lights switch off, like a night panel. I own a facelifted CL9 since july 2019, reflashed ecu and 421 header with test pipe from littlebo. Because it has MAP sensor it can hold lubed air filters like K&n without any issues. Mine has about 225hp, and does 0 100 in about 7 seconds and 0 200 in about 28 seconds with 225 45 17 and heavy stock rims. If you mount 205 55 16 light rims you can do 0 200 in about 22 seconds, so with these light mods it outperforms lots of german sedans with 2 and 3 liter engines. If you invest about 2k in a euro R short ratio gearbox with lsd you can outperform a 335i bimmer...the cheaper way to get a close ratio box and final drive is to swap the gearbox sprokets with civic type r ep3, about 1k cost....but you drop the speed about 25kmh in 6th, so it is better to keep at least the stock 6th speed for cruising. Anyway think about it, mine had 56850kms from 2007, one owner, and i payed 4850 euros for it, with extra 900 euros for reflash, header and a set of summer tyres...it is a bargain for a car with lots of options like heated electric seats, sunroof, xenon, 2 zone climate, and a hell of an engine, probably the Best 4 cylinder naturally aspirated engine ever made, with multilink and double wishbones... honestly there isn't a better sedan in europe in it's price category. 2.4 engine in romania has an annual tax of about 200 euros and insurance is 110 euros per year for my score group, whereas a 2.0 tdi has an annual tax of about 40 euros, but over time you end up paying lots more for the diesel maintenance, consisting in injectors, turbo rebuilds, EGR replacement, gaskets, and intake sticky goo buildup...
this car really surprised me! n i think your right with a few small mods this thing could actually become a proper little sport sedan! for the money these cost its hard to think of anything else thats better value!
i got the 2007 version of this car, 5 speed manual gearbox, only owned it 2 years so far and the hands free phone system went faulty and had to be disconnected as it was draining the battery (Honda garage told me its a common fault in these). Also had to have the bonnet/Hood catch disconnected as it kept triggering the alarm to go off (Honda said another common fault in these Accord's). Other than that its a great car, drives well, very reliable, and pretty good on fuel.
@3:33 there are options to put an AUX to USB converter in the cd changer port and put a USB Bluetooth receiver in there. That way you can play music through Bluetooth when you put the radio on Aux. Volume controls on the steering wheel still work.
I have CL9 myself for almost 2 years. it was my dream car since i got my driving licence (2014). after few renault, peugeots, and nissan i finnaly got it! I have it on 225/40 R18 tires, FULL BILSTEIN supension(OEM+) original height, sloted/drilled disc brakes and Android 10'' display for ac radio etc... MOST important thing is to get it reflashed. After that you get 10-15hp at 7900rpm, vtec is activated at 4500rpm, and consume 0.5-1.5L/100km less. just amazing car, and im not even a honda guy.
Greetings from UK. My bro lives over there in Rockingham, I thought i recognised the scenery. My own accord is a type V 2.3 19 years old and again everything works. :)
Mine's a 2005 Canadian model. Hondata reflash (stretches vtech range), cold air intake, headers, exhaust, suspension 18" wheels (in that order)...and some rest for your cheeks from smiling!
This was the first car I seriously considered buying, though I ended up with its successor: the Accord Euro CU2. Both gorgeous cars and huge respect to Honda. The biggest downside is that Honda refused to sell the V6 option in Australia, so we're all stuck with NA 4 cylinders. Hopefully Honda brings the Euro back to Australia, because they mainline range bores me.
It’s no surprise that the CL9 was said to have saved the family sedan in Australia during its release. It’s a peppy car with Japanese reliability, enough flair to stand out from the crowd and which doesn’t have the ridiculous price tag of European luxury cars.
@@RossReviewsau Absolutely! Not bad looking and decent quality interior. Plenty of modifications available for looks and performance. Even better that they have wagon models of the sedans as well. A reflash, aftermarket air intake and aftermarket extractors is all you need for better performance and abit more power for a daily.
My tsx problems: burnt 1 low beam headlight, burnt 2 brake lights, exchanged 2 coilovers, 1 bad spark plug, replaced oil pan (dealer messed up) changed the fan, replace airbag sensor. Total cost from fixes: $1100 --------- for 15 years.
I have a 2.4 types manual. Its a K24A3 engine. Its a legendary technology. pity that honda did not continue after 2012 with the accord in europe. it is better than 90% of all other cars
The fact this car's are type r k24 dtune from factory Honda little secret is very interested car bc my tsx can keep up with many today's cars and is still looking like new and my baby still looking like new and they are going up on price bc they getting popular in the import community
@@RossReviewsau the cost of ownership in maintenance has been so minimal. The only major changes were my clutch and suspension but that was my choice because I upgraded to higher performance! I'm only at 109,000 miles but still it's the most reliable car I've owned long term and I've owned 10 new cars since then.
👍🙂. Nice review, good camera work & music. I like the wheels & ride height. I like what fasterproms is doing with their accord/tsx... they are taking the engine & trans out & putting it in a Smart car +turbo.
@@RossReviewsau they've allready started the process of cutting and test fitting. Should be a good lttle smoke machine when it's done. The Acccord you reviewed, I'm glad it's a manual, that seems quite rare by today's standards.
Great review man & kudos for your delivery. I have one of these here in the UK. The vtec on these engines is nothing like what is experienced with the iconic Type-R cars & true sporting Honda's, still a great motor though, smooth torque delivery & spaced gearing for a family sedan. r
My 94 Accord 5 speed manual is pushing half a million, not as peppy as she was 10 years ago at sweet 16 but no one has to slow down for her when she enters the highway. No one else will ever own my Honda and I will take her to the dismantler myself when her time comes.
fantastic car i own the 04 Luxury. they use the same gearbox from the type r civic only missing the LSD. there was also an option for bluetooth from factory. you can get a bluetooth module that connects to the standard stereo that updates the tech. great review man
Got mine for $2400, 195000 km, slight hail damage and a little bit of sun fade on the rear driver side panel. Put some wheels, coils and intact/exhaust and it’s a perfect daily
glad you enjoyed it m8.. i'm not sure to be honest tho id be pretty confided to say there would be.. that would make a cool video to compare the 2.. lets hope i can find one
Ok so you reviewed a stock Euro. Now find a tuned or reflashed one with full bolt ons. I had my VTEC tuned to 4000RPM and with the headers and intake. It makes car car so fun to drive.
@@RossReviewsau stock they are not particularly quick, with basic bolt on mods they really wake up. Honda sets up vtec engagement at 6000rpm from factory probably for economy purposes. I know after i had mine tuned and vtec lowered to 4000rpm it picked up 10kw and 20nm atw all the way through the revs, you look at a stock graph before tune and after you notice the massive dip in power after 4000rpn when vtec is engaged at 6000rpm, having the vtec coming in sooner at 4000rpm helps in a big way
@@Raffmeowmeow they most definetley do a good job. Benny and Jimmy opened my eyes as to how good these Hondas are, i been a Nissan guy from the time ive had my license. Very small world

It's crazy to me that of all of the cars to look at as a new car for myself, the BOSS xr8s were one, and these Honda Accords were another. Next if you review a Mazda 6 MPS and I'll know that actually you've found out how to read my mind and make videos tailored just for me.
i really am interested in the mazda MPS! i've been trying to find one for a while.. that's a car i know little about n has always sparked my curiosity.. lets hope i find one soon!
In Europe there are 3 types of engine: k20, n22, and k24. K24 were sold without type s too (most of them). Diff of type s is that you mostly get different look and thats it
Hey Johnny mate, nice little daily but I still wouldn't have it over my fg xr6,great review as always you're killing it man, you'll have 20,000 subs in no time bro take care you & the family.
I have 08 USDM model 6 speed with the K24. These cars desperately need a tune to wake them up. Their biggest weakness is weight, but they do come alive after the tune and bolt-ons. The stock header and exhaust is super restrictive on these cars, with a quality header and exhaust gaining 30WHP isn’t uncommon. Interesting you have a manual, in the USA only like 2% of TSX’s made came manual. So finding a 6-speed can be a nightmare.
ya i think if this was a auto it would really hurt the excitement of the car.. but i think with what you said some boltons and a tune it would wake it up nicely :) great car nonetheless all round
This is one of Honda's better styling efforts. It's aged but it's good looks make up for it. Interior looks like a nice place to be still. It certainly passed your reaction test with the 0-100.
I love this car, we have a 2006 (facelift) accord tourer 2.0 since 2008 and it never had Problems. Ours has about 190.000 miles with the first clutch... After 12 Years we want a New car (japanese)...but which??? In germany we dont have the pilot or the odyssey for ex.
Nice thing about these cars is that they come with double wishbone on the front and back so handling is amazing even for such a "heavy" and comfortable car
@@RossReviewsau had mine for 3 years now.. no major issues at all.. just normal brake maintenance and such! Great cars! Easy to work on lots of space.. there are some issues with the pre 06 model regarding a failure of a circuit board inside the radio which kills your battery overnight.. so i jut ran a switch to cut the power right from the fuse to turn the radio off each time i get out of the car.. everyone knows each switch adds 5 hp LOL
