Straw here in KY is valuable in the field. It serves as a mulch for double crop soybeans seeded right behind the combine. No they aren't. Lexion sales in the United States are stagnant at this time or as they like to put it 'stable'. They have been on the scene for a couple decades now and just have not caught on. I mean seriously you make a class 10 combine yet it has a grain tank that is smaller than a class 9 John Deere that makes absolutely no sense not to mention the offload speed on the augurs slower. Who gives a s*** if you could eat a bunch more grain with your combine if you don't have anywhere to put it and you basically have to surgically attached to grain cart to the side of the combine.

@@deannelson9565 ok, ok. My comment did not specifically refer to the Lexion combine - more generally CLAAS. And you should not take it very serious. But if you like to talk about the Lexion, why not. Here in Germany it looks like 90% of all contractors and large farmers are using Lexion Combines. I´m not a big fan of CLAAS, but there must be something good with this machines, otherwise there would not be that many on the fields. So you talk about class 9 / 10 combines. We don´t have this classes here. So I´ll take what we got based on your examples: engine: JD S790: 625 Max HP Lexion 780: 626 Max HP graintank: JD: 14000 ltr / 400 bushel Lexion: 13500 / 383 bushel unloading speed: JD: 135 ltr/sec or 3.83 bushel/sec Lexion: 130 ltr/sec or 3,69 bushel/sec So I can see not that much differences you like to show me. It is often the case that the family / company always had a brand and continues to buy. Both machines are good machines.

mrour canada it’s no where near worth the list price. They’ll sell for less than half that.

I would say it is a mix of everything that has improved the yield.

The Xerion in front of the cornbin is a platform not only a tractor in that. You can see that big free space behind the cabin it can be used for a liquid manure cart or seeding combination also you can turn the full cabin back and using a mower for hay. The steering is not like the Buds and JD or Case in the middle. All wheels are able to be steering as a 4W model or spread out that 1 wheel is hitting the ground didn't know the English name in Germany it's named "Hundegang".

No where near 2 million. That list price is just that, it’s only a list price. They can’t give Lexions away where I live and the resale market on them is horrible. $800,000 list price is in reality probably $500,000 retail price. After one season and it’s worth only $250,000. Nobody wants them (at least where I live they don’t) because the resale is so bad.

A second crop of soybeans goes in right behind the combines as they cut wheat here. Every acre of wheat produces an acre of soybeans in the same field in the same year. Having big combines moves the harvest right along so the next crop can be planted as fast as possible.

The tracks do a good job in wet conditions. They do not leave deep ruts because they distribute the weight well.

This is the first 780 I have been around. The 760 is a popular seller here in KY. I think most of the 780s are sold for small grain harvesting in the Canadian wheat belt.

I live in central North Carolina, and one of the local farmers here has 7 of these bad boys!

I know a dealer up here who still owns 2 cat lexions

This particular crop gets planted in the fall and harvested late spring/early summer. Most crops are planted in the spring and harvested in the fall here.

Different field. That field is in Corn this year.

It won’t be long. I know two local farms with 8250s. They should be rolling any day now.

It is a monster machine.

Technology is always moving forward. When I was a kid in the 70’s an 8 row 170 bu combine was a monster. By the 80’s 300 bu and 12 rows was big. Engineers will continue to advance harvesting. I believe a new Claas Lexion will be introduced this fall.

Tracks are a great way to go on a grain cart. In this case the high flotation cart they were using broke so the dealer brought this DEMC out to fill in.

The Xerion is gaining market share in North America. They are more common to see on a dairy farm with a Claas Jaguar Chopper.

the tracks are available in 25", 29" and 35" width

The Terra Trac is a nice set up as they spread out the eight of the combine. In a muddy harvest the Claas will roll across the surface of the field leaving a track imprint. The triangle style track used by CIH, NH and JD will leave a deep rut.

@@bigtractorpower Just looking at the video of the CLAAS and looking at the Case IH, I would think right the opposite, figuring a longer wider track would be better but I have never seen either one of these side to side in a muddy field. Either way, love big combine videos. Thanks for posting and sharing and looking forward to this summer and into the fall of more "Big Tractors".

The 770 was short lived here. I think it was available for two years and replaced by the 780.

Not every farmer has that combine

It's winter wheat, they sow it after harvest season and hope it survives winter, it's a more durable crop hence the name winter wheat.

If I may...to the best of my knowledge this is why the class numbering system isn't arbitrary in that manner. If you consider that decades ago many John Deere 55 combines came with a 217 cubic inch engine and later a 303 cubic inch engine, producing 70 horsepower then 98 horsepower (if memory serves) then the class numbering system makes sense, starting from class 1. By hearsay I've come across this rationale a number of times over the years being born and raised and continuing farming.

In North America for model year 2019 most combine makers offer 5-9. New Holland and Claas offed 10. In Europe smaller combines are offered below 5.

Plus it can do corn and soybeans I imagine.

Everette Harris engine horsepower not grain tank size.

It is not based on grain bin size. AGCO’s Gleaner combines 6,7, 8 are all 390 bu machines but have different engine hp. The S790 is 543 hp and that is why it is a class 9.

They Will grow Soy beans in IT.

Most farm’s here in WKY do not bale straw. They all plant soybeans after wheat so they spread straw out to serve as mulch to help hold moisture in the soil for the second crop.

$5 corn isn't so bad but $4 wheat and $8 beans sucks.

@@cib5250 We have a strong positive basis here in Maryland and Delaware and parts of PA for corn because of the poultry industry here. We are actually in a corn deficit area. Prices have been right around $5 at local elevators

You have to farm A LOT of acres to justify it. One of the local farmers here(central North Carolina) has 7 of these 780s, and they farm right around 22,000 acres.

In the United States combines have been measured in bushels for nearly 100 years. I guess that’s just the way it’s always been. Interesting Forage harvesters here are measured in tons of product harvested.

The 2019 wheat harvest is underway. One area farm has 1,000 acres in since last Wednesday. The Convio header on this 780TT is new for 2019.
