She is very active locally, nationally and internationally in various community service activities. She speaks often on Human Rights, Access to Justice, and the rights and responsibility of the judiciary in ensuring the rights of all that appear before them to basic dignity and respect in judicial proceedings. Judge Whitener is a member of the International Association of Women Judges Association, the American Judge Association, the National Association of Women Judges, the Washington Courts Superior Court Judges Association and the Washington State Bar Association.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Amazing talk. Glad things worked out with her and her mother - when I get a chance to cut mine off, I’m never going back because she’s toxic and refuses to change and I don’t need anyone in my life who thinks I don’t matter. Know your self worth and cut off anyone who tries to bring you down.

I recently fell out with my father. He is so self absorbed, stubborn and lacks empathy (I have GAD and PTSD). He chose to cut me off last week after a disagreement which resulted in me catastrophizing everything (me, the world, my life etc) which resulted in me having multiple panic attacks. I spoke with a friend of mine about it and he responded saying that it sounds like it was a good result in the end. When I asked him why, he said "its the lesser of 2 evils. Its better to feel temporary pain and hurt by him cutting you off then having continuous disputes which has caused you to have multiple panic attacks". He was so right! And now here I am, binging these TedX talks which has also helped me tremendously!! It sounds like you already know deep down that you need to cut her off (rather then waiting for "when you get a chance to"). I respect that its a hard choice to make, but its important for us to get to a point where we not only know our self worth, but truly believe it. From the gut. We each have a choice to make - to keep negative energy around us or to move our compass to something more rewarding and positive - by putting OUR mental wellbeing FIRST! I really wish you all the very best Kerry

@@candykandy no you are amazing ❤️❤️ I really hope you can find the strength within yourself to(at the very least) distance yourself away from toxic people in your life. It’s easier to do that of course if you don’t live with the person haha, but now I’m “too busy to talk” and I’ve turned off notifications on my phone to assist with me putting myself first. You are not alone Kerry 💋

Thanks for sharing not that you needed to hear that, but the religious community needs to understand what it means to live in your own identity as the Psalmist says in Psalm 139: 14 "I am fearfully and wonderfully made!" Be blessed.
