We harvest our own clams a few times a year for stuffies or chowders! This year we try them steamed in a white wine lemon butter sauce and the results are amazing!!! Clamming hunter gather
When i lived in Miami some friends and i would drive to Vero Beach and go claming. We would take a 14’ jon boat and wade in the intercostal waterway wearing socks. We could feel the clams with our feet. We would reach down pick them up and put them in the boat. We had cold beer in the boat and would open the cherrystones with an oyster knife and eat them as we walked. We keep the big ones for later steaming and chowder. Great fun. Your cool video took me back to 1978.
Did the same exact thing in the mid 60s. With my parents and 2 of their friends from pompano beach. We would all drive up to Vero and rent an aluminum skiff and go off of some of the islands. We used hard garden rakes and wade in the water raking the bottom. We filled a couple Burlap bags with clams. Those were the good old days for sure.
You two are always up to something cool and tasty haha Just a little north of me and all kinds of seafood around you, I wish it was like that in Brevard, I hardly want to eat fish from most parts of the indian river cess pool.
Chefcoops here! Really enjoyed this clam venture and cooking episode. Keep them coming Brian’s family. It good when you have family envolved too.✅😊🤩👍🏾💯🙏🇧🇸

Used to get the really big Quahog clams down at Suwanee. We always found them with our toes. We’d fry clam strips. And, make chowder. Clam dip is the bomb.
This past weekend was rainy, wind was blowing. Son called me saturday and said he is making clam chowder and come over for lunch. It was great. Sourdough round for the broth!

Ian' I was born and raised on Long Island NY and have been here in Tampa, FL for the last 2yrs now, but while growing up in NY we would go clamming also and let me tell you, up there the little ones are called "Littlenecks", the Medium sized to slightly larger ones are called "Cherrystones" and the monster Chowder Clams that are as big as a softball are called "Quahogs". I can't believe you didn't eat any of them raw on the 1/2 shell. That's my favorite way to eat those Cherrystone big boys. little bit of hot sauce / lemon and splash of horseradish or cocktail sauce Yummy Yummy! My sister would order me a 1/2 a bushel for my birthday every year because she knows how much i enjoy them. Good times, the way you prepared them were also Super tasty in my opinion. Another awesome video brother. Love seeing you and wifey enjoying each others time together. God Bless and Continued success good Sir'
Welcome home Ian! Once again, another great video! I’ve never had clams like that, only in clam chowder. Now I can’t wait to try it this way. Keep the videos coming!
I appreciate the hell outta yalls videos! I grew up fishing in Heckscher Drive, Mayport, and St. Augustine. Had to move to Shreveport Louisiana for work, so now I have to live vicariously through your videos. Thank you for all the videos and all yall do!
Excellent video, keeping your spots kind of quiet kind of hidden, and then shot it all to hell when you said that you was going at low tide in the grass LOL... Great video brother you guys look like you were having a ball... And as I guy that has lived in Florida for 30 plus years that has not worn pants unless it's a funeral or a wedding I completely relate..🤣🤣
Born on the north shore, grew up on the south shore (Massachusetts). Learned to dig soft shell clams at the tender age of 8 years old. Relocated to East Bay of Rhode Island and introduced to quahogs. Long story short, I enjoyed your video to no end.
Excellent episode TT! We loved the clams when we lived on the east coast. Landlocked in TX now, but still get them occasionally at the Asian markets here.
