The Best version this song EVER!!! Viola Crowley on the lead and Agnes "super soprano" Jackson holding the long note. Madeline Thompson and Mavelyn Statham beating the FOOL out of the tambourines!!!!
*SHOUT, Y'ALL!* YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS! *HALLELUJAH!* Literal *waves of praise!* *LET GO AND LET GOD!* What happens when you *HAVE CHURCH* and start acting like they do in *HEAVEN!* *JOY UNSPEAKABLE AND FULL OF GLORY!*
Now we all know what Aretha Franklin was talking about when she accredited Clara Ward and Mahalia Jackson as being her greatest influence. And she said that Clara Ward would "tare the church up!" We can hear that in this recording. 😂❤️🙏🏾🎶
Aretha Franklin also said Mother Willie Mae Ford Smith was all of there great influence. Clara, Mahalia, Aretha loved being apart of Mother's Smith Specials ♥
@@sandersra9036 I concur. I know Aretha knew and loved Mahalia personally but stylistically she was most influenced by Clara Ward and Dinah Washington.
LAWD HAVE MERCY! This selection is dangerous to listen to if your walking on the street. I almost went in LAST NIGHT While going out! lol LAWD BRING THIS POWER BACK!!
the queens of gospel music the first women to take gospel music circular does Madeline Thompson Clara Ward go to ward the legendary divas all with the mighty caravans & Barrett sisters glory be to God
today is December 23rd, 2016 and I'm certain there isn't one single wig on a head in this church!!!! lawwwd have mercy, these women were not jokes! I absolutely love them..
Okayyyy the saints! Ms. Vi had on her traveling shoes and she was GONE! Reminds me of my grandmothers. We wanted them to stay but they had to GO!!! Run on Ms. Vi Crowley! And Ms. Ward and Mrs. Thompson and Ms. Gertrude and Ms. Willa and Ms. Agnes and the heavenly list goes on! God bless you ALL, as well as those who are still with us!
Those still with us who I hope will write a book each! Lol Mr. and Mrs. Statham and Mrs. Adele S. Davis and Mrs. Alice Houston. I hope I have this correct. As well as Mr. Tyrone Scott! And all others I may have missed that I hope will charge it to my head and not my heart!
I think one of the Barrett Sisters was hitting them notes at the end trying to remake that note Marion Williams hit on the vary first live record of the ward singers on the old landmark
This ain't Vegas...this ain't Broadway...this ain't the Jazz Fest or Flip Wilson...this is CHURCH. Don't get me wrong...the Wards ALWAYS had Church wherever they were...but the PEOPLE are having Church with them, not just watching a performance. Makes for a whole different level of Spiritual energy! CHURCH!
I think because this is the last recording Ms. Clara Ward did before she passed. And it sounds like everyone knew it in their souls. That's probably why they cut loose! Especially Ms. Vi Crowley. She and Clara were very good friends as well as group mates.
