Sugarhill a classic movie boasted an awesome cast and great storyline capped by Clarence Williams III portrayal of the drug addicted father of Wesley Snipes and Michael Wright. I was able to add insights about these two key scenes. Let me know what you think.

I remember it from childhood. I searched this movie many times. It's first now I found it. It was sooo touchable, when he says - "I want you to be proud of me"... Life is seriously strange and hard sometimes, but one is clear - love between relatives must be brought through all.

@@jimmyhollowayjr2017 , ✊🏼THANK YOU! IMO, it is not underrated. Whomever got it, got it. Whomever didn’t, Didn’t. It’s that simple. Most Definitely a Mature realistic portrayal of what we had seen thus far. The inside portrayal of a family trying to be held together by Romellos own arms. The reality of someone seeing the light in all that darkness. A craziness of the parallels of what I seen, with mine own eyes in that movie. It just hit like no other. 30 yrs later, it still rings true and clear. To all that can hear.

That's a heartbreaking O.D. scene! I know very little about the Bible, but I know Matthew 13! I remember Clarence from way back in a TV show called "The Mod Squad". That had to be late 60's, early 70's I think. I thought then that he was a solid actor. If you think about it, Sugar Hill and Superfly are the same movie. Both are about drug dealers. One wants to get out of the game(Priest/Romelo), and the other wants to keep rolling(Eddie/Ray Nathan). In each movie, one of their parents ends up dead. Both Priest and Romelo have girlfriends and each movie had a scene where they are on a bridge somewhere in New York talking about ways to get away. Same movie, just different time frames. Solid movies, not like the comic book crap they make these days...!

I asked my sister why she got high off of heroin ? She said it is the best high you could ever imagine. When people want to escape their reality. This is one route they might take. The problem is that heroin is a highly addictive drug. So addictive your body will need it just to be able to function . Withdrawal is too painful for the addict . Each person deals with life's difficulties different. This is one horrible way to live. This movie and Clarence Williams 111 portrayal is what makes a dope-feinds journey all so real .

@jimmyhollowayjr2017 I want to say this. My sister's name was Rita. She was barely 411'. Very pretty . She could sing . Had an effectious laugh. As a grown woman, she still sucked her thumb and rolled top lip with her index finger. She only did this when she was around family. I had visited her in prison. Took her to rehab twice. The second time, she stayed off of drugs. It was the early 80s. She was clean and working for 4-yrs. She finally was living her best life when she found out she had AIDS. They didn't have the medicine they have today, and she died shortly after being diagnosed. I love you, Rita, and I miss you 😘😘😘😘😘
