Matthew Koma wrote all the lyrics and was supposed to sing on the song but Matthew Koma said his voice doesn't fit the narrative so he said lets find a female vocalist to sing it. It's more fked up because when this song won a grammy award or whatever, Foxes thanks literally everyone besides Matthew Koma... it was so fked up
