Clark's Flights Montage 

It’s kind of a funny how this was how Superman was first intended to be, when he was first introduced into the comics he wasn’t able to fly but instead jump really high, but the artists were tired of constantly having to draw him bending his knee so they just gave him the power of flight

It's interesting how Clark's power of flight is often portrayed as being one of his hardest to master, in the sense of it being somehow counter-intuitive....like flexing a muscle he is barely aware he has.

it still makes me mad to this day for how long they waited to clark to fly he didn't have to be superman but no they have to wait ten years.

Smallville treated Clark flying like a video game ability he hadn't unlocked yet.

He was floating in season 1 yet seven years later he still can't fly or even float on command.

I think one of my most favorite flying parts is when he flies and goes to Lex's plane.

I like how Flying was his most hardest power to master back in season one I assumed we would see more of it but just a few times like in season 4 and 5 I remember Chloe even telling him how he needed to jump on it. In season 4 Clark said how Kal-El can fly but he still earthbound I didn't understand that. Even all the other Kryptonians could fly easily yet we have to wait until season 10 for him to actually master it. Makes sense though I mean in other universe we've seen him as a kid or as a teenager and he's pretty much knows how to use all of them but I do like how Smallville handled it. Clark has his Super Strength and Speed that I can see him getting first then later it's X-Ray Vision then soon it's Heat Vision that one I thought would be more challenging to master since it's fire his skin becoming denser to bullets. Then everything else Super Hearing Super Breathe Along with Ice Breathe and everything else except flight he gets that one last and saved it for the final episode of season 10.

It's funny how lex didn't faint after 6 seconds of the plane opening.

The only two things that have bothered me with this show were the no-flying thing and how they represented Darkseid.

pretty much all of his flights before the series finale were either dreams, attempts/fails, and "accidental". Lol

@boredpersonthingy It depends on what comics story we're talking about. Clark didn't have his first flight in nearly all the post-crisis origin stories until he was 18. He does have his first full-fledged flight at 18 in Smallville, with Season 4's "Crusade", he just doesn't fully learn the ability for keeps until... Yeah, the finale. Superboy was able to fly at a very young age, at least ( 8 - 10 ) years old in the comics I read, and in costume which Martha made from material he was wrapped in, in his space craft. Also there was a special needle she used to sew it with.

I like to consider it a flight in the heat of spontaneous impulse (akin to the twister one), as Clark had far too precise aim and force in burying Doomsday underground to just be a leap/jump, in my opinion. The writers are also careful in the ep not to make Clark or one of the other characters blatantly call it a jump, leap, fall with style, or whatever else. My feeling is the fact Clark's training to master it in very next ep was in part inspired by what he was able to briefly accomplish there.

@bfnfamily Those were Super-Jumps. Lois even mentions as much in the latter, "Leaps tall buildings in a single bound"

No #2 can be put down to Clark "swimming" through the air currents of the tornado, so that how he's willing himself to move. But at the time he wasn't aware how he was doing it, as he was just focused on getting to Lana. Sorry to ruin that one.

@bfnfamily Again, Lois indicated it was a Leap, ergo Super-Jump, which Clark didn't deny. Clark makes it clear in Season 7's "Kara" and Season 8's "Legion" he still can't fly. Aside from Season 7's "Veritas", he only started to train for the ability again after Season 8's "Doomsday", one reason why I count that as an easter-egg.

You missed the scene where he flies with Lois in the barn. As well as the scene where he literally does fly and saves the world 😝

why does the flying effects look better from season 4 then season 10, the effects should get better as the years go by and technology advances, that always bothered me, the effects in the earlier seasons looked better than the later seasons

Why do some scene in the farm look fake. Something uncanny is goin on in the background just cant pin down what. Aren't they shooting it in a real farm? Barn scene out the window and sometimes porch by the Kent house sometimes look fake.

In hindsight, his parents really held him back, wanting him to be just a normal kid who gets a job and education while helping people on the side. I guess if they didn’t, we wouldn’t have gotten 10 seasons; then again, maybe we could’ve gotten 5 of him as Superman and the show could’ve become Metropolis or something.

I wish Smallville had ended two seasons earlier, and Clark learned to fly by the 6th season. By season 6 he should have been SuperMan. Smallville at first started good by giving him his powers little by little but after a few seasons ran out of stories to tell.
