Setting up and using a Clarke Mig welder 151te turbo.
I still have loads to learn, we all start somewhere 👍
. I’m not an expert, DIY is my hobby and these are just my views, opinions and thoughts. Dont do what i do assuming it is the correct way, i just show what i do.. this is certainly NOT a how to video.

The joy you express when mucking about in your shed is delightful to see. I've only just realised that I'm a total Sheddy! I'm an amateur turner and I look forward to seeing updates on your turning journey. But now I want to buy a cheap welder! Keep up the good work mate.

My Clarke welder did me proud for many years before I upgraded 💚🇬🇧🌱 good bits of kit👌 stick with it practice makes perfect

@@WeekendShedHead definitely, I also put a racket strap on mine to hold it in place better...& up grading the earth strap with an old jump lead helped my machine out too...

Hi Rob, you done a tidy job there with your welder, looks good enough to me. still works well after 20 years. The best thing to do now you know its working is to change the plug for a 16amp plug and socket or you could use old style 15 amp round pin plug and socket they still make them. you will need a 16 amp or 15 amp circuit from your fuse board. now the fun begins ,you can cut the hedge another day. Is Shed Space back next week ? As always a great video, catch you soon, Take care👍

If you change the polarity on the unit you should be able to weld flux core, save on the gas if you're only hobby welding 👍

I have an arc welder sitting under my bench. Haven’t used it for 20 years as I was rubbish at it back then. My dad used to tell me my welds looked like “cocky shit” (Cockatoo poo). He was right! I had a laugh at your expense, as I am glad I’m not the only one who is rubbish at welding.

Hi Rob- Of all the skills you can acquire in life, welding is the one skill that nobody is a natural at. There are so many variables like wire feed, current, metal thickness, gas’s feed, temperature… The only time I saw someone with little experience make a decent weld is when the machine was already set up by a pro and they handed him the nozzle. Your welder looks good! I’m always amazed by those Pakistani videos where these barefoot guys make awesome welds on everything without the rod sticking once! 🫣😂👍

Wire feed speed was to low.😬 Also that settings chart was for 0.8mm wire and you have 0.6 wire. If there is no chart for 0.6mm wire then you have to adjust always more wire speed and sometimes more voltage also. 🙂

Just take some wire off the roll till you get clean wire also did you get it new or used I bought a Clark 130en for £35 needed new swan neck and swan neck liner and tips

Looks good to me ... 🦯😎 Nothing a grinder won't improve! That's how I make anything I weld look a little better ;-) I tend to use CO2 / Argon gas mix rather than just CO2, I think it is a little easier to use to get a reasonable weld. The 'hobby' sized gas tanks don't last that long, but unless you have a lot to weld it's not likely to be worth the cost of getting a big bottle and a suitable regulator It is fun welding stuff ... I'm tempted by tig welders as they provide more control, though mig welding is simpler to learn
