Vybz Kartel made Clark’s popular for the new generations. Myself a kid growing up in Senegal 🇸🇳 I started wearing Clark’s because of Kartel from then till now. BIG UP ADDI 👑
Clarks waited all these century and decades to have a Jamaican, whether in music, fashion, etc to be a apart of their brand SALES must be dropping and black folks hopefully getting smart to make their own production of quality shoes, look at all the resources in Jamaica to do so without putting in the white man's pocket And still Jamaicans are known to wear the Clarks from generation to generation, not knowing, but naively ignorantly fatten the white man's pocket for decades Not just Clark's, but other brands and never a Jamaican, dead or alive are their branding embassador
I'm not a old Rasta but I've been wearing Clarks for ever and during high school in the 90s Clark's was the thing Clark's big a jamaica even before kartel sing the song
That a true but it was going out of style the younger generation did a wear sneakers and crep but when the teacher sing about it the whole Caribbean seh clarks
Way before Kartel sing bout clarks mi and wear class cos I'm the smallest of 6 boys and mi older brother and others in the community were all wearing clarks.
@@ShotbyJul Clarks always had its fame among us Jamaicans kartel saw the popularity and went along with it him get a few more people to wear it but like I said in the late the mid to late 90s every body a my high school a wear clarks we even usto have competition to see who had the most and most unique clarks.
I think the point of the kartel part convo is that he took the Jamaica and Clark’s association international. It gave Clark’s a different market worldwide. In America Clark’s isn’t a “cool kid” shoe/ but with kartel and now the hot reggae acts they’ve been looked at different.
We all know that, super cat , little John was the first dance hall artist to sing about Clark's, but kartel made it go international biggest shoes song out of Jamaica
@@djarchitect1328 Clarks always international, its an international company. Because mi did crazy n love Clarks before kartel sing it mi wear it go high schl up to 08 before kartel sing bout it.
@@playreggaeguide where in the UK you live? Because I know you a tell lie , because when popcaan perform in the UK more than one shows everybody was singing the song even drake perform in the UK because I was there back stage
Clark's has always been popular in our music as rasta, rudeboys ,have always been the footwear of choice.Long before Martel when a man mek it overseas a barrels bloaded a Clark's usually distributepon the corners. Jamaica's market small.
I don't agree with anything said in this segment but I appreciate all the opinions. There was an ovo (drake) version of the clarks years ago. Yes the brand is not as popular in America as it is in ja but it is extremely popular internationally.
As for Ari’s question for “why Jamaica?”, I think they’re trying to just use the Jamaica Branding to appeal to the people overseas that like to follow the trends in Jamaica or anything that has Jamaica written on it. Rappers love the culture, other companies like to sample the culture in ads. It’ll work.
Toronto Canada AKA The 6ix🇨🇦 Clark's think they're smart they're playing it safe 😒 trying to avoid using Dancehall but yet they make sure to use Koffee because she's commercial friendly✌🏽 trust me politics involved 🤔
Remember that Jamaica as a former British colony Clarks has been here from time immemorial. My mother as a 90+ ye old wears clark sandals and flats. My school shoes of the 1960s were Mary Janes made by Clarks and as I out grew a pair I got another as those shoes never got damaged.
Ckarks are not going broke. Like most retailers they are closing retail outlets and offices because of on line shopping all the major retailers are doing the same online has changed they way people are shopping
Hilarious to see people who don’t know what they are talking about trying to posture as if they know. Not only is Clark’s still popular they are even heavily copied. A brand that is suffering does not get copied.
Clarks shoes shop was always known as the school shoes shop, and the Old people shoe shop. And still today this goes on. Average UK person not interested in Clark's shoes.
Why is it that anything overseas people don't appreciate ; we as jamaicans find quality in it ? We jamaicans don't seem to see this but the foreigner don't talk or fancy these shoes we pay so much attention to ! Clarks been here for a while now but #vybzkartel mek it more popular inna modern days
Yall crazy Clarks using Jamaica??? Smh we all feel like Jamaica is so important that even when somebody or something acknowledge n show love to us we feel like them using us. Smdh!!! Just appreciate the love. Wow.
@@jamaicanaturalhair u know dat Clarks gave every student at Marverly Primary school a shoe last September? Which other shoe company ever do that for Jamaica?
@@AlEllis876 when they gave away those shoes they launched a series of Clarks the same time and Stylo G and Sterling was promoting it. Simple marketing trick.
🇯🇲 Rastafari from the... 70s had been the biggest endorsers of Clarks. Mi nah tek nuh bak chat on dat fact! What you should be talking about is why all of a sudden in the past 2 years, all the TV commercials and advertisement is using black people in their promotion of all the major brands. How come Clarks is suddenly paying Jamaica homage after all this time? Sinttin ah gwaan.🇯🇲
G mi affi give ya a thumb down fi dis Clark’s is going broke vk bring it back they need to give him endorsement for that not askin or telling I’m just letting ya know
Dem did feature Jahvillani song pan dem IG page about a year ago. Then mi start see the Lila Ike photos and the Chronixx Photos. Then the Sterling Collab and now the collection. It should’ve been done years ago, however dem a do it now. I hope they actually keep tapping into the genre for their promos. Gives the artiste exposure. Hoping they incorporate dancehall artiste soon.
Clarks bigger than Jamaica as in market place , however internationally people identify Us as Jamaicans even when we are in the Middle East and wear Clarks. The thing is and what is interest is that Vietnam make some of the Clarks but some of the Vietnamese did not recognized it at first sight. Guys simple marketing and profit maximization. Vietnam is cheap labor force, low installation for Factory cost and Jamaica an influential exporter of culture. Essentially, to the world "If Jamaica is wearing it; its ok; I want one"
Toronto Canada AKA The 6ix🇨🇦 It wouldn't surprise me that they're going out of business considering everything that's going on right now. So they're reaching out to the Jamaican audience 🇯🇲 that's been there from the start" and I don't know who the girl on the show that said if there only reaching out to Jamaicans on the island she has to remember there's Jamaicans all over the World 🌍 and a lot of us love watching your show. Respect 💯😅🇨🇦🇯🇲
Not really mi works wid Clark’s Jamaican is just one of the lot who to buy Clark’s by the dozen each time they come to the store white be Indian buy the most 2-3dozen one time nd come back the next month
Kickers are popular in western Jamaica not sure abt the rest of Ja. But Timberlands are my personal favourite And any brand loafers. Used to like Clark's before it got popular and over priced and too much fake ones out now
Kickers is for the under 12 in England, also used for school shoes. Most parent buy them for school. Cause it hard wearing. Bit like Campri very old 80s drink
I have more than 50 pairs of Clarks and guarantee you the company aint going broke. This is just good business. To my knowledge no stores have closed in the UK and even so they have a good presence online which is how I purchase mine
Clarks waited all these century and decades to have a Jamaican, whether in music, fashion, etc to be a apart of their brand SALES must be dropping and black folks hopefully getting smart to make their own production of quality shoes, look at all the resources in Jamaica to do so without putting in the white man's pocket
Clarke’s can never go bruk, don’t be silly it’s one of the biggest shoe brands in the world Clarkes revenue from Jamaica ain’t that big, Don’t get it twisted
They have new owners, they went into administration at the end of last year, and Chinese were more clarks than anyone, the UK musicians Clark is the number 1 amongst musicians, Jamaicans hype up clarks but we probably only make up 15 to 20 % of their buying market.
Raheem Sterling brought is old school last year every single student a pair of Clarks and Clarks would never die out, it's been around from the 18th century, 1825
Love the show but one thing, they do not separate dancehall and reggae in foreign. Soundman and people born in Jamaica do but everyone else has it one one category.
To be franks clarks brand is a really durable brand but addias is my kinda brand but i wear shoe nothing specific from it look good its mine and of to confortable to .
a pure badmind people Inna eh comments y unu no just give di man him glory.. Inna my school days reebok airmax kickers were papular than clarks.. polo, Aeropostale American eagle wuz the biggest brand Inna ja Dem time dae.. kartel highlighted back clarks.. Clark's raise people start theif Clark's everybody start wear back them Clark's wae did park..
So the fix heard clarks going broke by word of mouth. Jamaicans bin wearing clarks due to our English influence. Jamaicans in Jamaica is not even promoting our own culture if it's not reggae lately. We don't even want to speak patois anymore SMH.
You guys need to do your research and history on Jamaica and Clark’s , yes kartel made Clark’s known worldwide on a dancehall stance ,but long before kartel ,Jamaica/Rasta /rude of a.k.a bad man always been stepping in Clark’s .and will continue . Rasta don’t need to talk about brand , just by looking at them you seen what they wear-example the marleys .all they wear or mostly are Clark’s .it’s up to you to research and say oh shit that’s a pair of Clark’s .
I guess they would say dancehall is a risk. And it's known to be associated with violence and the artist are unpredictable... Don't want to be associated with such a brand that can damage their reputation after. Reggae nowadays is palatable... And being palatable isnt always a good thing, because controlled music tends to get boring due to the lack of freedom of expression!
Ckarks was a big thing even before the bleachers sing about it,he was only cleaver that much to cash in on it thats all.....clarks can and will never die despite the opinions of all...
Reggae artiste are more marketable bcz they are not getting locked up. A brand has to think big picture and unintended consequences. No need to risk their brand which is still popular risking being associated with a convicted felon
Ari, overstand Rasta supports each other on a whole. From the beginning of the music culture it was Rasta who wore Clark’s no need to big it up as how Dancehall artiste does everything these artiste does is for fame. Dancehall bigs up everyone’s brand for liking but corporate will always resort to Rasta or the culture artist to carry their brands. Less chatting it’s more show than tell. Dancehall artist not focused they have no direction
All the original ganja man from way back in the days only wear Clark’s but on a real scale Jamaican and black people on a whole need to stop giving all these multimillion dollar company free advertisement just to say you are wearing designer
Dancehall presence risky as usual... The manufacturers' position with Ja themed versions has been ongoing for years. Covid allows for such moves. Rude Bwoy , Rebel, Rasta, and Streets... Kartel led the new generation in the promo... The artists after Ika Mouse and Super Cat are doing what artistes have done for years as with hennesy, guinness, Air force, slim jeans , bleaching... Art imitating life... Australia New Zealand and plenty of Europe are Clarks fans. DJ mentioned Drake... There is a OVO clarks collab... Dem youtube googleable long time tho.
I understand why Clarks didn't use Vybz Kartel and Dancehall to market. Vybz Kartel is not that popular outside Jamaica and Dancehall is not "family friendly". Clarks is the brand that sells school shoes, would you buy something for your 5 year old marketed by a guy talking about sex and killing?
You guys should really check the history of Clark’s in the reggae space and Rasta man. A Rasta man seh Clark’s and then everybody else run in. Check your history
I see jamaican music make henessy become a number one cognic drink in the world. Until there reserve in france became empty. They have to build a new henessy plant. Even their ally louis vottion try to use jamaican culture to promote there product. The sweater that they introduce the other day. I can tell u this not even hip pop music have the power like dancehall music does when it come to promotion.
Kartel made Clark's popular than before get a billboad song out of it they could have use him back then but didnt now they could use popcaan then or even kartel songs them cause them have a hit Clark's song also or even jahvillani smh unuh give some people weh neva sing a song or ilight Clark's before smh dancehall always get a fight
Sorry ari u got this one wrong. They r definitely better business ppl from dancehall. No free promo...most of those reggae artist always getting some brand endorsement....
Clarks sale slow down from late 90s, just jamaican mainly was still rocking them...now jamaicans switch to sneakers, but is the wu tang clan saved them in late 90s... It is what it is.
You guys don't know anything about Clarks in the Jamaican culture. Clarks has been deep in dancehall for over 3 Decades form super cat days, sorry but not gonna guve that to Kratel. Plus the brand has been around from 1825 almost 200 years. Clarks is not going anywhere any time soon.
Kmt here we go again with Jamaicans thinking the world revolve around them. Clarks Nuh need Jamaica to move big units. Jamaican a beat Clarks long before Kartel and I'm here in the US seeing Clarks stores that full all the time in Texas of all places. All in the movie taken is a Clarks the man a wear. Stop with this foolishness
Knw what’s di fuck up thing bout this Clark’s is pandering to us and did a whole video about Clark’s in Jamaican culture and acknowleding us but yet we don’t have an official Clark’s story or a factory here now tell me if that’s not fucked up 😂😂😂
Some dunce head jamaica in di comments as usual... obviously clarks deh bout longtime but was it that popular in Jamaica? Was it a go to shoes in Jamaica...no! Obviously kartel had a huge impact on this. He brought it to the younger generation where everyone wanted it.
