Its not often that Jeremy bigs up a Vauxhall, and as a fan of Vauxhall's is why I want one!!! Currently driving a mk4 Astra turbo, so at least Ive got the same engine. Just need the lightness, chassis, rear wheel drive and mid mounted engine!

@@nocreativity73 I don't believe that to be the case. Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky were front engine, different platform and a lot heavier. They also came later, around 2006 - roughly when production of the VX200/speedster ended.
He once almost twisted his head off doing his "MORE POWER" laps sideways with the back wheels in a ditch. It's rather surprising to see him on a tractor these days - yet still alive. Even captain slow has ended up in hospital doing insane things in TV & the new post TV programme.
He did hurt himself a few times. Something happend to his back with the GTR in Japan and a Volvo broke a finger when driven through a wall, for a challenge.

Agreed. It might be great to drive but I don't think I could own one. VX220: Butt Ugly and given it's based on the Elise that means Vauxhall designers willfully made it ugly presumably so it fitted the brand identity of Vauxhall; I.E, Horrible square shitboxes. I'd love to own the TVR but I'd probably kill myself. I'd take the Elise.
@@PURENT I'd be surprised if that was the case. I'd agree the entire chassis and suspension would have been engineered by lotus and would have need extensive tweaking given the new engine. I'm damn sure Vauxhall would have insisted on designing the body so it fit in with their new design language. There is no point in having a halo car that look nothing like the rest of your range. The whole point is to have people associate the crap cars with the halo cars because it looks somewhat similar. Luv and Peace.
@@ianedmonds9191 The design would have had to actually work for the car considering it was rear engined, rear drive unlike any Vauxhall or Opel at the time and it would have to be manufactured by Lotus it so I wouldn't be too shocked if design was some kind of joint effort. The entire project was just GM bankrolling Lotus so they could design a new Elise that met Euro safety regulations, so it wasn't exactly an existing car just getting a new body either. But it is pretty obvious after they built that Speedster/VX220, they started using the design cues on the rest of their line up. As if people would walk into a dealership and be excited to buy a Corsa because they thought the Speedster was cool.
VX / Speedster was designed by GM designer Neils Loeb. I'm told Lotus were going to keep the body of the S1 for the S2 but decided it wasn't good enough when they saw the VX concept and did a redesign.
I love TVR's and have one.... we all have different likes and dislikes just like women, I bet if I met your partner/wife, I would probably not fancy her.... just like cars lol 😂 😂
Exactly. I never did understand the attraction of him just losing it. A Needell or Harris complete drift with a lovely blend back into the straight is poetry in motion. This just looks - and always did - awful. Still, he knew his audience.
0-60 in 4 seconds? I can think of dozens of motor "BIKES" that would totally destroy that time! get out of your tin box and enjoy the fresh air! NOTHING beats a bike to get the juices flowing!
@@tomodonoghue3309 absolutely! if the driver in front of me is sucking on a spliff--- I, and probably half a dozen drivers behind me are aware of that fact!
And, before you get too smug, half of the EVs on the road can also challenge that time. How things have changed in 20 years where an untweaked, family hatchback can be significantly quicker than a lightweight sports car.
