A northbound Class 115 diesel multiple unit train travelling to Aylesbury makes a "station stop" at platform No.1 at Harrow-On-The-Hill station.
The train comprises 4 passenger carriages, 3 of which are in Network SouthEast livery with the other one being in blue grey livery.

Lovely little vid - the train looks like it's absolutely rammed full!

I believe it is common practice still that Chiltern trains non stop through Rickmansworth in the peak hours.... which always causes amusement because as the 165 glides through Rickmansworth you can hear someone shout "Oh bugger, not again".

Lovely old video. Never mind not stopping at Rickmansworth, these days there's one service in the peak hours that runs direct from Marylebone to Great Missenden and even misses out Amersham!! I believe this is due to the huge overcrowding that occurred on the Chiltern Line when the Metropolitan line reduced the amount of fast trains to Amersham in the rush hour.

@kov366 Thanks. Beyond whats already uplifted on other films, I dont know / am not sure. I think that this film is only here on its own because when editing my other films showing these trains which are already here on youtube I forgot to add this sequence. Simon

@BSW150 I'm not sure. I think not, as when the 115's were introduced the British Railways services out of Marylebone behaved as a real railway (not a mere 'urban transport' metro) with services reaching Manchester via Sheffield and the Woodhead mountain pass, Nottingham, Leicester, Aylesbury... sharing tracks with the Metropolitan Railway / Line trains and with some of these trains calling at the very same platform seen here. Seemed a bit generous in its first class accommodation - half a carriage

And many standard class ticket holders will sit in first class regardless without having paid extra for the privilege - of which i have bern guilty of multiple times

Did the 115 units have tripcocks fitted, just like the 165s do nowadays?

No they didn’t

@@ZeldaFitz Correct - 115s never tripcock fitted. The decision to fit tripcocks to the 165s was taken roughly same time as the decision to use Chiltern Lines as an ATP trial route. IIRC NSE's Chiltern fleet of 165s had both systems from new.

Class 115 used to be used in the south west England on the Devon and Cornwall branch lines until around 1995. They are crappy trains. They are slam door trains.
