Sir,I have a doubt.. Are Shaivism and Vaishnavism extended sects of Puranic traditions? Because Puranas provided a base for the worship of God Shiva and God Vishnu as major deities... Sir, Please correct me if I am wrong.
Nope, these were the two different ideas of tradition ( Vaishnavism & Shaivism) which are mentioned in the puranas (complied by Brahmanas in mid first millennium). In short, puranas held different knowledge, stories about gods and goddesses whereas these sects which you mentioned were basically traditions of Hinduism. Hope this helps. Have a good day!

Sir, Why does Karaikkal Ammaiyar describe herself as a renouncer of social obligation but not a nun? How is it possible that someone leaves all his/her social obligations but not become a monk/nun?
Because it's your choice if you want to become a nun or a monk... nobody can force you to do that this can also be seen in Meera bai's case she also renounced her social obligation but did not become the member of any alternative system 🙂
