i actually remember being on one of these before they had one from Walsall to Birmingham New street was ages ago cuz i remember the interior layout plus the seat was really comfortable :)
That would most likely have been a 116 which were built by the same manufacturer (BR at Derby) and largely similar except the 127s had Rolls Royce engines and hydraulic transmission whereas the 116 had BUT (a joint venture between AEC and Leyland) engines and mechanical transmission.
these units are beast, but youve got to admit in BR days they were dreadful...fires reguarly in the driving cabs, fumes entering the coaches, no corridor connections with only one toilet in the entire unit, bumby ride and slow on accleration. Makes me apprdicate the 319s on the route lol
