Regular diesel locomotive hauled passenger trains have returned to the Cumbrian Coast Line from Barrow in Furness to Carlisle, following operator Northern Rail not having enough DMUs to operate all services on the line. Two sets, using locomotives and rolling stock from DRS have been making four return trips each day, and have brought a touch of 'old time' luxury back to this scenic stretch of Britain's railway network - the trailing locomotive is idling, but will pull its train back again to obviate running round at each terminal.
