2 Class 416 2EPB EMU's seen here on the North Lodon line at Kew Curve with the Stratford to Richmond service 1988, thanks to the members of RMWeb for supplying me with the class type.
The "idiot bars" were due to Hampstead Heath tunnel having very restricted clearances, and that the thought of being decapitated might spoil the enjoyment of looking out of the window.
Just fantastic. Can remember them in service both on the NLL and th Southern and now on my layout as the Bachmann offering has just arrived! have you got any of the 501s?
I see they have the idiot bars on the windows to deter passengers leaning out of the window too far, or indeed stopping someone's enjoyment of looking out of the window.
Can someone please tell me what the black triangle on the front means? Been wondering for years. Is it that it is a 2 car train? I've only ever seen it on these trains, or the diesel equivalent (thumpers).
