Newly named class 47 323 'Rover Group' passing Bromsgrove on 6V22 Longbridge Vans. 24/02/1994. Closely followed by 37 906 light-engined. Speed restriction due to damaged culvert.
Back in the 1970's I worked at Knowle and Dorridge. When the Lickey route was closed the vans were diverted via Oxford. This happened on a semi regular basis, and the vans would always be going like the clappers, dust and litter everywhere in their wake!
Thanks for your comments Robert. Nice to hear your nostalgic recollections.27 years ago and already a distant memory. The north and southbound workings regularly crossed at Bromsgrove , the first sign of which would be the arrival light engine of the class 47 banker. I do have a black and white shot of a 58 banking the vans , which appeared in Rail magazine, for which I received the princely sum of £10 but for some reason didnt have my camcorder with me on that occasion.
