Safe travels, David. Bummer about the spare tire cover and the traffic stop. There's been a rash of people printing fake temporary plates, so I'm pretty sure that's what launched the "fishing expedition" to check your license and registration. Your speed was just a pretext to pull you over for a closer look. Once he saw you were legit and he was just bothering you, he had to keep up appearances by warning you about your speed. Cops always seem _compelled_ to scold you about something, don't they? McDonald's will do in a pinch, and I understand buying a meal in exchange for Crackerdocking overnight. I'm still hoping you'll fire up the galley and "chef it up" before you get all the way home. After all... *there's no reason to eat poorly when you're on the road.* 😀
Thanks! I was just glad I got a warning and I understand they have a difficult job, but I was behind a couple of folks so they should have been looked at as well. I’ll be cooking in this bad boy soon!😉😁
Since you are reluctant to "speculate," I will do it for you. You were pulled over by the state trooper because of the temporary tags and going slightly over the speed limit, even though you were keeping within the traffic flow. And if he was able to see you, he pulled you over for being a BLACK MAN DRIVING A NICE RV! The trooper felt you stole the vehicle or had drugs on board. There, I said it. Many years ago while on I-70 in Kansas in a nice rental car (I had the car on cruise control at the speed limit, knowing how state troopers are), all of a sudden a trooper started tailing me. No flashing lights, just intimidation. After about 5 miles, he pulled up along side me, and actually smirked, as if to say he could not find a "probable cause" to stop me, and then pulled ahead and exited the interstate. So this stuff happens. And we have to put up with it. That being said, you did all the right things by being calm and cooperative, and you had the paperwork. So, the trooper knew that he had no real reason to stop you and that is why you only got a warning. Always be super careful when going through small towns in the west. Congratulations on the RV, wish I could afford one like it. Enjoy.
I loved how you handled the stop and addressed the elephant in the room with “let’s move on”. You weren’t about to let “whatever that was” ruin your happy trip with your new rig which I really like and am super happy that you were able to get better RV than previous 👌🏽👏🏽🌺
Wow. I gotta say, I am angry for you. You must be so sick of that kind of thing with the trooper. Moving on is really all you can do, but I wish for you that you don't have to continue to experience these kinds of interactions. Love and respect to you! Love the new rig.
Sounded like the Trooper and you were both gentleman. I really think that the paper tag was the reason for the stop. Nice rig (Mercedes Benz) Anyway you handled it cool and moved on.
It’s likely that the officer was being truthful about why he pulled you over. High up in your vehicle, he was unlikely to even see you until he walked up beside you. You handled it perfectly, were very polite, and nothing escalated. My adult kids are biracial, so that’s something I think about a lot when they are on the road. I’m glad that you can finally start back to camping in comfort! Happy trails!
When driving the Ram Promaster I find that the pedals are small and close together so I always drive barefoot. Also if you find any shake in the steering wheel you will need to add a Yakima faring to the front of the roof rack. Yakima WindShield Fairing for Roof Racks - 52" Long
🎉Congrats on the new rig🎉I hope it serves you well. Be sure to form a relationship with Winnegabo. I hear their customer service is top notch. I'm sure they would be willing to assist you with the inner workings. Have fun and safe travels. Woooooo!
We all know you weren't speeding, not in that sized investment! You need a dash cam with a quad-camera, they film out of your two front passenger windows and into the van, with the 4th camera is an extra rearview camera. Also, make sure it's automatically uploading to the cloud. Sometimes they just don't expect you to show up in court because the plate is out of state, easy money for the county/state. Congratulations on getting the older model 59G with that extra seat!
The new rig looks nice. Hey, you drove thru my state. Born, raised and still live in Denver. I know exactly where that Cracker Barrel is. Hope it wasn’t too chilly for your sleep over being you just missed a huge snow storm here in Denver. Wishing you safe travels home.😊
I love driving my RAM chasis. I got my B+ 5 yrs ago, when it had 5,300 miles on it. It now has 56,000 and this week I finally replaced the battery. Have never had any issues with it. Figuring out a new rig is always a puzzle, but you're a seasoned veteran. Sorry to see you get pulled over in KS. Glad you at least didnt get a ticket..😏 #DWB.
new rig, new issues--but at least nothing way too serious. You did the car camping so I guess you're used to the cold. While camping, I've pulled up a blanket or two over my head and been comfy down to the low to mid 40s, but having working heat will be better.
Hang in there Jedeye! It will take a little bit of time to totally understand the workings of the new rig and hopefully nothing major with the heating system. Looking forward to exciting adventures in the Travato!
your rig looks beautiful! But you did look tired at the end of the video. Glad you were able to have dinner with your daughter and her partner. We bought an Expedition 2 weeks ago and are still learning about all the bells and whistles!
That is really a gorgeous rig! IWas glad you were recording when you got pulled over. I bet you'll have figured everything out by the time you get to Seattle or shortly after! Looking forward to seeing more trips in that cool vehicle!
Well that was a little more “excitement’ than you needed on day #1! Glad you got only a warning… and awesome to hear you were able to catch up with your daughter!!
The T's really do drive great! We've towed (fifth wheel, a Micro Minnie, and a teardrop), and driven a B+/small C and a 30-ft C. And, truly, driving the Travato down the road is a D-R-E-A-M!@@RVJedeye
Those blinking red lights are wind turbines. Very weird to see at night. I pulled my travel trailer across Kansas and Colorado and were puzzled by them too.
I had a thought David. Have you run one of your stove burners to purge the air from the propane lines? I'm thinking your heat might be kicking off because it's been sitting at the dealer with the gas off and there's no propane in the lines. When it doesn't light right away, a gas heater errors out and shuts off. Sometimes cracking a stove burner lets the air out; if the stove takes a few seconds before you can light it the first time, that's probably what's going on.
They did a fantastic job cleaning her up like new! Glad you got to have a nice dinner with loved ones after that ** situation and the heating issues. Great to see your realtime experience driving and sleeping in a class B, so thank you for taking it for the team 🙂
I am so proud and happy for you. The Class A was destiny for you to end up here. I can’t wait to see what adventures you take us on. I would love to have a Travato.
So exciting to see the smile sneak across your face as the reality of owning your new rig starts to sink in! Sorry about the tire cover, an opportunity to get a Star Wars Themed replacement! 🚔 ...that cop knew you weren't 10 mph over the limit 🚔 ...glad everything checked out and you were able to continue 🙄 ...sorry you had to endure that! 👋🏽 welcome to Colorful Colorado! Host a meet up if you pass through in the future. And hang in learning your new rig! Trusting all will be well with the heater!!! ~Big C in the DP 📢 ::: Air Horn 📢 ::: ::: Air Breaks! ::: 🚌🚌🚌
The adventures have begun ....... you looked like real relaxed and comfortable driving, almost like you've had your new to you RV for a longtime..... Enjoy and safe travels .......😁🤗
I never understood why campervans/class B’s don’t just have a catalytic heaters like Wav3’s. The space is so small - why the added ductwork and fan power just sucking away at your house batteries?
Once you pass them, you can still have a wonderful trip. I don’t understand denying yourself the beauty of a road trip just because you think windmills are ugly. It isn’t like they are everywhere in every mile of the road. You might see a bunch of them, then no others for 500 miles. I think they look pretty majestic myself, but that’s just me. There are a lot of ugly things on the road besides windmills, but the beauty far outweighs the ugly, in my opinion.
@@nancyasberry8458The windmills never bother me, I’m always so surprised by how many folks really don’t like them, but then again I don’t live near any of them😊
Don’t come to California. While we were on lockdown they erected thousands of behemoth electrical towers all over the state. Ruined the beautiful landscape everywhere. Tragic. Criminal
I’m so happy to see you back in an RV buddy! When I subscribed to you back in the day, you only had about 650 followers! I’m glad to see how much your channel has grown since those lean days of yesteryear lol! This rig you currently have is a really great looking Tie Fighter, but I’m sure once you have her ship-shape, and in perfect condition, she’ll be a perfect road companion! Always my best to you 🖖🏼
Awesome Rig! Sorry you had a couple speed bumps but you got this. I'm sure you will quickly come up to speed on the nuances of the equipment. Keep having fun my friend! Looking forward to the next video!
Enjoy the learning curve my friend. There will be many quirks and features to be discovered....like you need to slow your roll speedy 😂 Its suspicious to drive the same speed as everyone else 🤔
Love the new rig and figure you will learn all the systems in time. It was a tough situation to jump in and start driving. Glad you were comfortable and confident driving this. Much easier than the big class A Ford chassis. Our old Class A had weird lights that were too high up and we couldn't see to drive at night. The promaster has been so much better and hope the same for you. Excited to see more!
Loved the video- except a couple of parts. I literally LOL when you mentioned the cruise control. I know your gonna get it all figured out, what a neat adventure. So, so happy for you. Can't wait for the next video.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😃😊looking good !!! Nice rv camping trip again! Be safe and enjoy your adventures again. You look 👀 very happy! Come on down to Georgia.
@RVJedeye It is an interesting part of the world. I lived in SW Kansas for many years in an area where we used trees as landmarks because their were so few of them. Now I live in Texas on a greenbelt with 14 trees in my yard LOL. Enjoy that new RV!
