OUR RV IS GETTING A MAKEOVER. In this video I’m removing the dinette, sofa and blinds and sharing my plans to remodel the interior of our class c motorhome. I’ll be building a custom TV lift cabinet, desk and table plus adding some comfy furniture.

Our RV has seen a lot in the 11 years we’ve had it. Having spent many years traveling with kids, Melissa and I are ready for a change. We don’t need the extra sleeping areas that were great when we needed to sleep up to 6 people. These days it’s just the two of us and we are ready for a full makeover of the living area in our class c motorhome.
This video is phase 1 in a series of videos I’ll be posting on this remodel. I started by removing the jack knife sofa, dinette and blinds to see what I have to work with. With a blank slate, I can then start rewiring electrical circuits and preparing the area for new stuff. The general goal of this makeover is comfort, versatility and coolness.
In a future video I’ll be building a custom piece of furniture to serve as our desk, shoe rack, kitchen table, and TV stand. I’ve always wanted to install an automatic TV lift. So that’s going to be a cool feature of this new piece.
In place of the dinette, I’ll be installing two new powered recliners (from recpro.com). They are comfy enough to be able to fall asleep in. That’s pretty exciting.
Finally, I’ll install new window shades, storage cabinets in the overhead bunk area, new flooring and maybe even a stand up desk option (still thinking about that one).

We just bought our 2008 Four Winds with the idea of renovating of the interior doing much the same plan. Bought it in AZ and just drove it home yesterday, will start the demo today. We are both handy, like, you, and have a similar shop/tools. Imagine how happy we were to find your RU-vid channel with the identical floor plan! Love your ideas and it’s so, so helpful to be able to see what’s under, inside and around the things we want to remove and replace. The icing on the cake is all your ideas that we hadn’t thought of, the electrical stuff you’ve already traced out, etc. can’t thank you enough. You inspired me to do this to my MH. Removed the jackknife and the dinette. Replaced the dinette on the slide out with a recpro 67 inch power setup and installed a DIY TV cab with a pub height bar table that folds down when not used. It's basically for 2 people which is pretty much what we have most of the time. Before when the slide was retracted we barely had space to walk to the drivers seat. Man, the space I have now. It's like a new camper :)

This is brilliant, I have a 2011 Tioga with almost a identical layout, I removed the jackknife sofa and have been toying with taking out the dinette and putting recliners there, Gives me a picture of what it will be like before I start into the project thanks for posting

Bed Bath & Beyond sells wood with faux leather padded seats folding chairs. Last time I had to buy some they were about $35 each. The first ones we bought are going on 7 or 8 years old & are holding up very well.

Very nice video. Nice to see someone who has a remodel job planned and doesn’t begin demo with a chainsaw or jack hammer. Considering the 11 year old RV, it is in really nice condition. Your attention to detail provides a “game plan” for those who would like to make changes to make a Class C more livable either full or part time. My Class C looks a lot like yours. I am going to be watching with interest on how you manage the changes. The electrical was already an issue I had when converting over the dinette in my RV. Look forward to this series.

Luckily my electrical won't be as bad since I've already run power (AC and DC) under there previously. So hopefully, it' just moving things around and maybe adding an extra outlet. I like having an AC outlet near the cab area to plug stuff in while we're on the road.

We traded our uncomfortable sleeper sofa for the recpro and also love it. We don’t have anyplace for guests to sleep, but we rarely travel with guests. You’ll enjoy it!

We're not worried about guests either. We'd like to be able to sit 4 at the table though. We also have an inflatable matress that we can throw on the floor. The kids actually used it as they got older and didn't fit in the sofa or dinette.

There are only two of us and a little dog in the trailer when we travel. I took the little cabinet that housed the radio out as we never listen to the radio anyway. Just next to that, I removed one of the bench seats for the dinette and replaced the seat with a padded folding chair. Realistically, we don't spend that much time on the dinette. After removing those things, I added a small shelf next to the door which helps with the small things we carry in and out of the trailer. The wheel well hump is now the place to place the shoes, ice chest, etc. for our daily trecks in and out of the trailer. It's amazing how much space just that little change opened up. Next is to repaint the boring wood finish on the cabinets to lighten up the interior.

We owned our Airstream for 15 minutes and had the couch out so we could put recliners into the same space. We didn’t need the sleeping space and the couch was not comfortable for sitting or sleeping. The recliners don’t move at all when traveling down the road. Good luck.

your lucky i am remolding a 1983 holiday vacationer class c and on the wall facing the driving bay is carpeted walls. should be easy right, well it is if they didn't use staples glue and brad nails and the staples and brad nails was all over like at least a good 3 or 4 rows (or clips) of stables and brad nails and like a 8th inch coating of glue and then square head screws under stuff how they did it and made it look good was amazing but the did not intend for it to go anywhere lol took me 3 hours to remove like 5 square fit of carpet

WE just did similar with our fifth wheel, dinette gone replaced with table and chairs. Jackknife sofa replaced with recliners. Same problem with our TV, had to look at angle to see it.

Looks like quite an undertaking. On folding chairs, check out Ebay for Hamilton Cosco folding chairs and Samsonite folding chairs. My mother-in-law has some tri-fold Hamilton and they are pretty comfortable for folding chairs and fold up nice for saving space.

I'm looking forward to see how it turns out too :) Yes. I'll probably be putting in new carpet after removing the sofa and seeing the difference between the old/new. I'll just be doing it from the living area forward into the cab. I thought of reflooring throughout, but that requires removing kitchen and bathroom cabinets. I don't want to bite off on that yet. So I'll do it in stages.

HI Brian my pushout in the Cottage RV is soft where the table & chairs sit and its not soft outside underneath but up under the carpet its soft like a small hole. The carpet is okay but if you hare very heavy you may go through it! What can i do and how do I remove the carpet is it stapled into the walls? can I carpet the floor as its warmer where i am thanks for any suggestions

It looks like your building my perfect RV. I recently built a TV stand on that same style of motorized mount that you're planning for one of our work boats that works up in Alaska. How large of a TV are you planning on installing? Be mindful of the vertical travel of the TV mount. The first one I bought said it was for a large TV but the vertical lift didn't accommodate a TV anywhere near the size it stated. I originally was setting up a 65" but I downsized to a 55" on the boat as I didn't like the amount of movement the 65" had while hitting waves.

Hope you're enjoying that tank top weather. Our 32 inch TV that's above is plenty for that space and still fits back in the cabinet. Plus larger tvs will use more power and we're mostly running off inverter.

@@RVwithTito Oh yeah, I can't complain about this weather at all. I'm editing a video outside right now and it's warmer than inside the hotel room. Very nice, the 32" will feel so much better with a good viewing position as well. I ended up going with the Touchstone 23202 Whisper Lift II for my project as I needed the strongest lift possible that had a good amount of vertical lift for such a huge tv on a boat.

Hi there. We have a 2006 Coachman Concord 23. We were looking for a new rig but honestly, I don't see anything on the market that is made as well as what we have. The biggest problem with keeping this one is that the only bed is either a jackknife foldout 82.5 inch long couch or the fold down dinette. We would like to find a way to have a wider area to sleep. Our tail feathers are a little wider than were 14 years ago :) Any ideas you have would be appreciated. I am perfectly willing to sacrifice the dinette or half of the dinette. There are only two of us.

Great video! I have removed the two bench seats for my dinette which is on the slide out. The seat belt restraints were under one bench. I am unable to remove 3 of the 4 carriage bolts of the seat belt restraints. The come up through the floor of the slide out. One bolt was accessible when the slide was extended, the other 3 are not accessible. Do you have any suggestions I can use to remove the remaining 3 bolts. I have a 2014 Four Winds Thor 28Z. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

Hard to say. You could use a cutting wheel but need take sure the bold doesn't end up in the slide mechanism.

I have the exact same motorhome and have used so many of the upgrades you have done. Thank you! My question is are you going to get rid of your carpet? I want to replace it with some type of vinyl plank but am not sure If you can remove the carpet where the dinette slide comes in? Any insight is appreciated.

I was hoping to keep the carpet for that reason, but I think I'll replace it with new carpet of some sort. I'm looking at some nicer carpet squares from Amazon. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the area under the slide yet. Assuming I can get the old stuff out, I'll probably carpet as far back as possible and use a flat stell bar or something to press it down . TBD :)

This is a great informative video that has given me some interesting remodel ideas, also I'm new to your channel and I was curious about some past videos on weBoost Rv cellular signal boosters. Which do you prefer for an area with little or no signal, the pole mounted directional antenna or the Omni directional antenna. Thanks for your help and keep up the educational videos.

I still use the omni directional antenna and would only use the directional one if there's no signal and I have to find one. If you're mobile, the big pole is too big to carry in my opinion. I have an extension for my existing antenna that can put the directional one up another 4 feet if necessary. Hope that helps. Don't forget the RVWITHTITO coupon code for 10% off.

Did you ever get around to installing the 12 to 24 volt transformer for the recliners? I asked RecPro and they replied the chairs require 110 service plug. I purchased a transformer and might give it a go to see for sure, I think it should work just fine. Any opinions or experience with this mod?

I completely forgot about that. Funny, I actually have the converter that I got for another project. Give it a try and see if it works. I'm curious.

I cut a couple of them that I could reach. The other ones I left in place and just shortened them.

We took out our dinette on the slide to put in a table and chairs. There are big bolts from the seat belt brackets. How do we get rid of them? Afraid they might affect the side if we just bang them through.

You'd have to look under the slide and see. You may be able to remove some if they don't interfere with the slide mechanism. It may be better to leave them in and just shorten the bolt inside. I removed two of mine and left two. Lucky for me, they are hidden under the recliners.

RV with Tito DIY I am hoping to redo the floor.. leaving the bolts in might be an issue. I think I’ll order the loveseat recliners and see. Might need the bolts to secure the seat in. Then have to deal with the dinette area

I did the same thing to mine Brian. I put a sofa where the dinette was. My big fear with new furniture was, will it fit through the door. I had not intention of pulling the windshield out, I got a sofa to fit the space exactly from www.homereserve.com/ It even has storage under it.

Is there anyway to get a copy of your AutoDesk plans of the Wall Cabernet? Im also doing the same thing in our class A. We moving the TV to a new spot and not from over the front windshield entryway This pic is just like ours .. @@RVwithTito I think staple nothing to do with weight, it's being cheap,unskilled workers who has no idea how to make a joint,you would be amazed how RV put together in Europe, especially hymer,,I spend 6 months every year, I have RV to, also did some modifications, Have not seen not even one staple,Iwish you see that some day,it's a same over here makeing a 2 million dollars RVs and o screw, no joints juzt a neglect job,dont get me wrong,I'M sure you would be happier when you arrange your RV and everything comes a part and goes back like a dream,and all that becauxe a SCREW 😃,I would like to see what would you du if some reason have to put back your dining 😁,anyway I do like chanel,mostly because I can see you love yourRV,top of that whatever you do it's airways useful,

I hope you’re not like the rest of the people that try to remodel their RV. They either do the demolition and then sell it or they remodel it, but really mess it up while doing it.
