Thanks Alan ! Great to see the progress on your boat too. I still think you should have built a 580 .... you are going to be a lot faster with that 650 ! 😀

Suggest you mount hatch cover inside roof of obsevation pod such that it can pulled out and aft and down to secured position. A minimal sprayhood would be ok too
@littlebeasailingadventures6408
@littlebeasailingadventures6408 9 месяцев назад
Yes, good idea. I did explore that and some builders went that route. There is a company in France that makes them and they are 100% watertight but way too expensive for me. I had changed out this hatch for a Lewmar Ocean 60 which was great for my Atlantic crossing. The spray hood would be good too ..... 🙂

Thanks for your review. The seadek sound great. Tell more about it and how it is applied. I am building a dinghy and maybe I could use it also.
@littlebeasailingadventures6408
@littlebeasailingadventures6408 2 года назад
Hi David, So far it seems like a great product. It is easy to apply. Cut the shape that you need and peel off the paper backing and lay it down. Beware the sticky back is really good so once it touches the surface you can barely lift it to reposition it. It is cushy on the butt and on the knees - it is great so far. Cheers

I’m currently building my own class globe 5.80 and simultaneously I’m preparing plans for a shed where she will stay in the winter. Would you be keen to share what’s the height (the highest point from the ground with all the handrails etc.) of the Little Bee when she sits on the trailer? It would make my day since I really need to know how high of the shed must be for easy driving in and out. Thank you very much for sharing this info🙏 Builder n.188 Cheers!

When my 580 was on trailer, it was 3.4 meters high. Hopefully that helps. Cheers !

Amazing. That really helps! Thanks a lot! BTW, I saw plenty of your videos and you’ve inspired me to build it from the scratch. All my ribs are finished. Thanks for the inspiration.

beautiful boat, well done. What type of swingarm did you use for the chartplotter?
@littlebeasailingadventures6408
@littlebeasailingadventures6408 2 года назад
It is just an arm for a television wall mount. Some people us the line loc material too. It works well though !
@bizeigel
@bizeigel 2 года назад
Nice. I did same for my F31 Chartplotter swing arm. And some Starboard as a flat mount panel.

What size is your companionway hatch? Do you find it easy enter/exit even in foulwheater gear? I'm looking to do something similar for my retrofit.
@littlebeasailingadventures6408
@littlebeasailingadventures6408 2 года назад
The hatch is 70cm x 70cm. No problem with getting in and out. What boat do you have ?
@jonataneklund7748
@jonataneklund7748 2 года назад
@@littlebeasailingadventures6408 a rapier 25 MH, designed in early 70s as coastal racer for the then relevant IOR-rules and they did really well in the Baltic winning Gotland round among others. Alteast 30 where bulit in the 70s and 80s. Sails well with a relatively light displacement of 1400kg of which 430kg is the iron fin keel. I have gone through the rigg and is continuously updating the sail plan. Ripped out the interior and is planning to build a new cockpit with open transom and new layout.

Great idea, the swing arm! Which brand / type did you use?
@littlebeasailingadventures6408
@littlebeasailingadventures6408 2 года назад
Hey Bart, I actually used an arm from a television wall mount. Fairly inexpensive and readily available. I have also saw some of the "line-loc" material used on some of the 650's but this was easier to attach to the cabin and the chartplotter. BTW - your boat is looking great ! Cheers

Did you buy a cnc kit or just buy the plans and cut your own?
@littlebeasailingadventures6408
@littlebeasailingadventures6408 8 месяцев назад
There wasn't a kit available when I started my build. I measured and cut everything by hand. Thus, the H on the end of my hull number on the boat ..... 🤣
@Collinoeight

What made you choose this as opposed to some of the other designs (Mini Transat etc)?
@littlebeasailingadventures6408
@littlebeasailingadventures6408 2 года назад
I decided on this design because it is robust and I like the lines of the boat. Also, It was something that I could build myself and be sure it would withstand the elements.

i heard about 5.80 having keel vibrations, like really nasty ones, do you have them?
@littlebeasailingadventures6408
@littlebeasailingadventures6408 2 года назад
Short answer is: No, not like Etienne had described. My keel and base plate are fabricated from thicker plate than what is specified in the Plans. In addition to that, I added a larger radius where the keel plate transitions down from the base plate.
@guillaumedutoit5376
@guillaumedutoit5376 7 месяцев назад
how heavy can you make that keel
@littlebeasailingadventures6408
@littlebeasailingadventures6408 7 месяцев назад
The lead bulb halves at to be 72kg each maximum. 20mm plate for the main body. I think the whole thing weighed just over 600 pounds.
@stuartsutherland7664

Can this design be built with bilge keels instead of a fin?
@littlebeasailingadventures6408

At this point no. You can also check out this 6.50 meter homebuild that has bilge keels ..... RU-vid search Wave Rover or Alan Muholland
