For those interested, Frost now is a commentator for BBC and you will hear him talk when watch all England every year. Zhao is still coaching and hosting badminton related event, he is still beast though, saw him play in 2017 still beat a guy 30 years younger than him
Denmark always has a great-fine Men Singles. Such like Svend Pri, Morten Frost, Poul Erik Hoyer-Larsen, Peter Rasmussen, Peter Gade, Jan O Jorgensen, and now Viktor Axelsen and Anders Antonsen.
Zhao was my favourite player as a schoolboy and still is . The most elegant player on court and what wristwork. On his day, nobody could touch him , not even the great Frost or Yang Yang.
Thanks for uploading this game ..This match of Morten Frost reminded me of the All England championship which Prakash won in 1980 who was coached and played along with Morten in Denmark .
Frankly some of Zhao Jianhua's moves are just breathtaking to watch ... too bad he frequently lapse into lower energy levels and let big advantages slip by ... but when he's in the on position, its really amazing fireworks on display ...
@@bananaboy78member40 After he contracted pneumonia, his lungs were not in very good condition anymore, therefore he could not perform at his peak unfortunately, tried his best to stay in the game
Zhao moves around the court like a player of current times, shame his frequent health issues took a heavy toll on him and he had to quit the game when he was still quite young
Wow. Zianhua has the most precise and well angled smash I have ever seen. Somehow these older matches semm to be more tactical and less physical than it is the case nowadays.
It's the 15 point system so the players have to be smarter with how they spend their energy since 1 game could easily last over an hour whereas a game in the 21 point rally system takes usually 3 games to go over an hour since both players can score no matter who serves. This is why the older matches are so elegant prior to the rule change.
I heard from Li Mao, the New China Coach, someone kidding that zhao's smash is too sharp, the shuttle cock already touch the court, but zhao's still yet landing.
Shouting is now part of the psychological war. It's very annoying. That spain girl is unwatchable. A complete meat plank. These guys had some class. Frost is old school. Moves beautifully. Good defense. Clear and drop guy with the occasional smash. He is the purest. This Asian guy here was moving like a modern player. Overwhelmed frost. Great match
Thanks so much for the uploader :) As a goodminton player I was wondering how if zhao were one of the shuttlers thesedays, meeting lee chong wei, lin dan, hidayat, gade.. the qrandprix arenas must be more exciting!! To be frank, among them all, I guess zhao could be on the top
Heryanto Arbi too :) Zhao is better than Chen Long today, Zhao had perfect footwork and killer jump smash. Old fashion badminton having longer rally than today :)
I just tried my dad racket (80's) Carbonex 8, it is 3x heavier than my Nanospeed, I don't know how they played before :) With old school 15 points/game. I felt to game so long :)
Arema00 Yes, it is longer so stamina comes into play a lot. I think 15 point system gives a better indicator of who's the better player because only the player serving gets point. If I'm serving, you would have to win 2 rallies to win a point. First rally to win the service. Second rally to win the point. With the 21 point system, it's faster because it doesn't matter who serves first, both players can win points. But with the 21 point system, luck comes into play a lot more. Just because u beat in 21 doesn't necessary mean u are the better player, u might be just lucky. If you smashed it out, service fault, hit the net, ur opponent is rewarded point.
if only Zhao master have the physical like lindan.. and bettersets of Lungs... he will become the first GOAT,, i like his style more than lindan, though lindan is the best in men single history. period... sad he is born with that disadvantages
Frost is the most elegant badminton player ever seen so far , Zhao Jianhua was the most skillful and powerful player in 1980s. Back to 1970s, it was Lim siew king who was the best badminton player . They are all great Champions.
Of course Frost would battle to the last point. We've all won games from seemingly hopeless positions, and as World and All England champion Frost has oodles of mental fortitude.
I remember an older Frost competed in a Danish tv special against other professional athletes, and crushing them in the cross country running discipline. Try to lower your screen to only watch his legs...
All players of this kind of tournament surely so great, Indonesian's should realize with consistency and strong mentality, otherwise they will be loosers.
A steady camera in one location for a whole rally.. I think the filming of this one is pretty brilliant, with the great tony gunawan ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CNx_3gFdbm8.html
Those were the years where players use their intelligence to play and when the game is over they shake hands like gentlemen, they have respect for each other. Now days the players don't have the sportsman quality in them.
@@user-dz9yk8qc8q most final winners these days do not shake the opponents hands right away after they won . The keyword is "final" . They might do the immediate hand-shaking after finishing their earlier rounds.
Wow this is when Gillian Clark was still playing professionally too. The familiar commentating voice everyone hears during almost every important game ever now? Yup that's her
The third set, setting to 5 was very confusing with the players serving out of the opposite boxes as per usual. Less confusing if the score was announced as ie: 16-14 instead of 3-1.
