Thanks so much Jemma! I remember Matty made a chocolate chiffon cake in the Bake Off final and Paul Hollywood said it was one of the best chocolate cakes he's ever had... Would love to see a super chocolaty chiffon cake!
American here, love watching your videos! I was wondering if you could do a video on traditional tea desserts. Throwing a Mother’s Day tea for the ladies in my family and would love some ideas
I made a Pistachio Chiffon cake last year, using Sarancino pistachio paste. It was amazing! I made a pistachio white choc ganache which I whipped and then used a raspberry jam concentrate on the layers, topped with the ganache, then finished it off with an almond buttercream, with raspberry buttercream swirls on top and around the bottom. It was a lot of work and took me a good 2 and a half days to complete but I love using chiffon sponges as they are so soft and light and can go in the fridge without getting hard/dry like sponges made with butter. I just wish i was well enough to bake at the moment. I love watching different recipes for them though 🍰
That sounds INCREDIBLE! IF you are feeling up to it, could I reach out to you for your pistachio chiffon Recipe? I bake only chiffon but I don't know how to incorporate it into the cake. Not sure how much pistachio paste to use
I want to make an orange chiffon cake, it is one of my favourite cakes in the world, that my parents use to buy from the asian grocery store. I have been waiting for a recipe to try at home! :D
I live in Singapore and chiffon cake has always been a staple in our cake culture. The most popular flavour in the region will have to be pandan chiffon cake and orange chiffon cake. You can either extract the flavour from the leaves itself or get the flavouring. For the orange flavoured one, just add the zest and some orange juice. But personally, my favourite will have to be a strawberry chiffon cake, where reduced strawberry purée is mixed into the batter before folding the meringue in. It gives it an extremely nice deep pink colour.
Great recipe, great video! I tried making chiffon with a normal cake tin once, with parchment paper at the bottom, but while cooling upside down the bottom released itself from the bottom of the tin and created this dome, which then destroyed the cake... That being said, I did a pandan chiffon once and it was really good!
That looks amazing!! Can't wait to give it a try!! Please please can I ask for old school recipes? Like cornflake tart, butterscotch tart, chocolate concrete etc? Thank you ❤
This is also super popilar here in the Philippines. At home, it's the only cake i make because my family finds other cakes too dense. As for flavors, I've made a matcha chiffon with white chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream. I've also made ccarrot chiffon cake with cream cheese frosting. There's a popular deep-dish cake here called "crema de fruta" which is just chiffon layered with pastry cream, fruit slices (usually peaches, strawberries, mangoes, canned pineapple and a few maraschino cherries), and plain gelatin/apricot jam. It's basically tropical fruit salad as a cake!
Hey Jemma, i am ur biggest fan from Pakistan, whatever i have learnt baking, i mostly watched ur videos and i will definitely try this chiffon cake.. Sending lots of love on ur way. ❤❤
Have made the Italian version called a Ciabella in Lemon and Orange, one coated in melted chocolate. Found a PME version of the tin on Amazon - £21.06 for the 8" model
Slight twist on the classic, but...lemon and lime chiffon cake is one I've been meaning to try for a while - lime flavoured cake instead of the vanilla, and lemon frosting (or vice-versa, of course).
@@CupcakeJemma yes It can. If you want a successful CHIFFON cake, Use any baking Aluminium pan without liner with the help of cranked palette knife or spatula. Just place your knife at the edge of the cake until it reaches the bottom and Slowly scrape the cake towards in the centre around it and flip your cake . 🎂 I’ve been using this technique a decade now and all my baking pans are not loose bottom🫰
Hmm I think the caramel might have to come in as a topping there. It’s worth a try subbing a bit of the caster sugar with brown sugar but I think it would lose some of the air 🤔
A good chiffon cake should have much finer crumbs and very fine air bubbles. Those are way too large. Either the egg white was over beaten, or the temperature of the oven was too high.
I do like your recipes and tried many many of ur recipes absolutely fabulous results I do bake a chiffon cake with cocoa powder Also a orange chiffon And a coffee chiffon
You should do a lemon chiffon cake. I made one for a friend’s cake testing using your lemon curd and buttercream recipe but I lost the recipe for the cake itself 😢
in Indonesia, pandan chiffon cakes are super popular. It's a very fragrant coconutty flavour and it's a really pretty green colour, I highly recommend you try it! You might be able to find pandan flavouring (or even the real pandan leaves) in an Asian supermarket
Hi Jemma. Can I use the sainsbury Taste the difference self raising flour with your recipe? I see other recipes asking for cake flour which isn’t obtainable here in Uk although it can be made using plain flour with cornflour! What I am asking is can sainbury’s substitute the cake flour? Thanks
There's a kind of traditional chiffon cake in my country, and that is pandan chiffon cake. I would love to see a cupcake Jemma twist on that lol. But other flavors are good too, like chocolate, cheese, lemon, the list goes on ...
Traveling around Asia I had both a pandan and an orange blossom of sorts which were very yummy but you can’t go wrong with a chocolate or just the classic with strawberries and cream
The grease can cause the spring to collapse at the sides , in the same way that it would to meringue (especially as meringue is what give this cake its lift). So it’s not advisable. You can however lightly grease and line with paper x
I love chiffon cake!!! Great to see this your channel.❤ I made chocolate chiffon cake and lemon was very delicious for any occasion including my children’s birthday. I would love to see more other flavours with delicious decorations.
Jemme love your recopes. Thank you. Can you please make croissant cookies thae Brookie makes? I couldn't find a tutorial or a recipe anywhere and you have the best cookie recipes
Yeap, the mixing method is more or less the same. The main difference is the way it's baked. Castella cakes are baked using a water bath. Chiffon cakes are just baked the normal way.
Is it okay if I use a pan without the feet just like yours? I only have the 2-piece. And I am using a convection countertop oven, any tips with the temperature?
