I play Callaway Big Bertha x11 irons, 3-pw. Purchased them for 50 quid when I first started playing 10 year ago. 14 hc and have the pleasure of being able to play with lower players. When I have threatened to upgrade, They have all previously concurred with you utterances - keep the irons but invest in a new driver (have played a Ping g20 for the last 6 odd years). Thanks boys, this vlog has certainly out my mind to rest!
I have my very first set of new irons bought them early 1970's there a set of Spalding Elite Plus 3 to SW ten irons in total, still in excellent condition considering they are going on 50 years old..!
Currently playing a set of Mizuno MP-58s irons which I picked up second hand last year. Still in great condition and perform as well as anything - love using them
Got some old Maxfli Revolution irons with weak lofts. Seem to help my iron game so much, ordered a set of Wilson FG 51’s in immaculate condition. The PW is 49 degrees. Can’t wait to play them!
I have a set of x12s (my Dad's old set) and also Ping ISI - they are both fantastic irons. I play off 14 and the first time I used the X12s Ishot under 80 but I've yet to actually play the ISIs on a full round yet as they were a recent eBay purchase but they feel and look great. My dad had a sent of Eye 2s and he loved them.
Playing Taylormade RAC OS I bought used several years ago 5-7 thru PW, Vokey SM6 50 and 56 wedges, 4 and 6 M4 hybrids. Still have my old PGA T-Lines in the garage.
I'm still playing callaway x16 pro irons, it's going to take something special for me to replace them. I'm glad I'm not the only one playing badly after lock down, keep grinding coach. #lockeyarmy
Currently gaming srixon combo set. U85 5 6 irons and Z585 7-PW and I absolutely love them. Just shot an 82 and I’m a 15 hcp. My first set of irons still in the garage Titleist DCI OS+ 3-PW
I am switching between 1994 Callaway Big Bertha irons and a set of 1996 Ping ISI Nickel irons, Put my 10-year-old Adams V3's in the closet as I am enjoying playing my old clubs and am playing just as well with the old irons over the new The only thing is I play a 3h, 4h,5h, in the V3's and am longer with those then the irons, but only about 10 yards.
I’ve got Wilson Staff V6’s and love em. These videos make me want to switch irons with a mate for a round and work it out. Looking forward to more matchplay laughs between you boys.
I got my old mizuno impact irons from the 90s today. I hit them better than my custom fit i25s. They felt better off the face too. They're ugly but do offer more confidence. I definitely won't be changing to the latest irons on the market any time soon
Went to play Alcaidesa at the end of my stag weekend. Realised we were on the wrong course on around 6th! Would be great to play it without the hangover!
Better get my Ping eye 2 s out again :-) inspired. And coach I play now the Razrx- an evolution of the X12 I would say, but with graphite shafts because of the softer feel
My Bag - I’m still playing the Ping KARSTEN II Irons - Shaft is Ping AWT - R … that I bought from Wayne Warms, Pro at Manasquan River Golf Club/NJ in the Summer of 1979. These Ping Irons came before the Ping Eye 2 Irons. I’ve yet to find Irons that out perform these classic Ping Irons.
Mark. Have you thought about trying to cup your wrist with the driver al la Dustin Johnson. Now you have a more free and faster swing it may help with your odd weak over fadey drives.
I would love to see the older Cleveland launcher irons set tested versus the new models. I currently play the older models with the 3-5 hybrid irons set. Also, be interesting to see if Mark may need any shaft replacements with his new swing speeds. Thanks
Hi Mark & Lockey, Love the videos you make. Current set 816 AP1,s 5-52 wedge 917 driver 3 wood and hybrids 2 3 4 5.. still have Srixon 601 irons and Tommy Armour Royal Scotts. From one down under can you lets us know what course is it and what is the course slope rating, the index of the holes you play as it is hard to determine on camera the difficulty of the holes you play. again like all your banter on course just needs course clarity.
I have a set of X12’s. love them to death but usually play with them in winter. Mizuno 825’s normally but no idea why I don’t stick with X12’s. maybe I should ?? Need to get to top tracer to compare with Mizuno
I'm gaming 2013 Taylormade RocketBladez. These clubs are the first set of fitted irons I bought and see no reason to change them. They are forgiving and very long.
I can't effectively go back to my earlier technology clubs. None were fit for me and my last set was not a firm enough flex. i have also had swing speed increases which would make that even more difficult.
Just saying I think if Coach starts his driver Head on the ground Then holding above ground He would smile more from the T box I love Callaway stuff if this works Coach lol
Got a set of Titleist Tornado irons that were donated to me sat in my shed...I can find no information on age anywhere online so hoping for a little help on here
Great video guys. Really interesting to see that older iron technology does not matter when your game is on. Hard to comment on the "army" golf being displayed from the drivers! LOL. I just switched to Callaway Apex CF19 Smoke irons. Just love the feel from a well struck forged club!
Oh how I love watching the Laurel and Hardy, the Ant and Dec of youtube golf. Just two m8s out playing golf and enjoying life. When that seems to be the hardest thing to do lately, in this crazy world we live in. Love the videos mark/coach, thank you. Stay safe everybody 😀👍
The best Ping iron is or was the K111 Ping Rail just before the eye2 so many features from them were carried through to eye2, great irons, hit it a tad lower and play and look like offset blades but a nicer looking club, and I have owned the lot in 60 years
Currently playing a new combo set of New Level irons (623/902), and love them. As for the gems in the attic...Mizuno MP14's. Still pull them out from time to time. You all should get ahold of some New Level clubs. I've been playing Mizuno's for years, and love the "feel" of the New Level.
I love watching just for the giggles... Streams of consciousness kind of stuff going on here. LOL Poking it about though, ti's good to see some old classic course vlogging.
Have X-12's 1 - 9, PW, LW & SW love them! Refurbished them myself. I keep trying to find the gap/ approach wedge, I hope I can eventually find one! ha great vid btw longing for summer now!
I have ping eye 2+ irons in the garage , callaway x14s , maxfli A10 tour limited, ping i5 irons , mizuno mp68 s , mizuno mp 54 s , and I'm using ping iblades at the moment , out of all the clubs I have the maxfli A10 feel the best , better than the mizunos , think I'm gonna strengthen the A10s by 2° s and put them back in the bag bruh ......
I have loads of old clubs in the garage. Ping Eye, Tommy Armour 845's, Hogan Medallion - Edge GS - Apex 2 and ICON, Yonex ADX Pro, Callaway - X forged and X14, Adams CB1. I'm playing the ICON's but I'm about to combo with the X14 long irons to add some forgiveness.
My gamers are Mizuno TP-11 2-sw though I've swapped out the 2 and 3 irons for a Nike Vapor Fly 4 irons. I've also got a 3-sw set of Titleist DCI Black Blades (they were more of a minor cavity iron), they feel a little heavier than the TP-11 so I prefer playing with the Mizunos. I've also 4-pw 2015 Nike Vapor Fly irons which I bought to get back into playing though they were so alien to what I was used to I went back o my blades from 20 years ago.
I'm playing Ping G400 irons with Ping G series 10.5 driver and Ping G410 LST 3 wood. Cleveland wedges, all are regular flex shafts. Seemore Si2 putter. As far a attic treasures, I have a set of 1-9 copper beryllium Ping Eye 2 irons.
I have a set of 1968 Ping original Eye irons (not Eye2), 2i through SW, that I'll play a couple times a year. I have a set of 2002 Callaway X-14s with OEM Rifle shafts, 4i through SW, that I play more often than the Eyes. My regular set are 2006 Ping G5s.
I play Bridgestone J38 DPC with Flighted shafts. I think they are of 2010? I also have a set of Golden Ram Tour Grind blades of I think around 1986. They look gorgeous but are clearly of a different era.
Taylormade RSI 2 4-PW with RSI UDI 2 iron. Not that old but definitely not new. (About 2014??). I love them and when they do eventually go I’ll be sad to see them go. They have got me from 19 down to 15 so can’t be horrendous
My first decent set of irons was a set of ping eye 2, went from 21 to 11 in a year, decided that I needed a custom fit of taylormade rac's....terrible mistake, I simply couldn't hit them, sold them to a chap I was working with. Went out and bought a second hand set of ping g5s, still have them , went down to 5.3 at one stage, hips went a while back so I haven't played much golf in the last 8 yrs but I'm going back after my second replacement in a few weeks..
Taylormade FireSole! Never got them, was working and had no $$ but at the time I’d have given a toe of the pro shops choosing to have them, ha! Cool video and good to see how we are all crawling out of lockdown. Mark....Cleveland driver in this one? That’s not the XXIO is it? Trying to squeeze some MPH? ;)
Never kept any of my old irons. Shame really as I used to have a set of wilson irons which were alot of fun to play golf with. Currently playing Callaway apex MB's from 2015, the chunkier side of a blade which suits me just fine :-)
currently playing Mizuno jpx EZ In the garage there is a set of small shop clubs from pinehurst. They were made by the August golf shop (circa 1997) and I love them. Still thinking about regripping and using again
Mark keeps obsessing about how much of an advantage Locky has with his speed, as he dusts him 4&3! Faldo won 6 majors and destroyed the longest hitter in the game at Augusta in 96 being s a short knocker. Speed is only an advantage if all other things are equal. Coach Locky is dreaming if he thinks he would shoot anywhere near par in his local Saturday comp with that swing. He's driving like a 20 cap.
I still have my callaway x12’s. bought them around 1996. No reason to change them. It’s not the clubs that’s the problem. new irons won’t make me swing better
I’m playing some old Mizuno MX 19s, but those Ping Eye2s are staring at me from the garage corner. Just put the Eye 2 sand and lob wedge back in the bag because my others are pretty much ruined. The rest of that set is calling me, especially after watching Mark handle them so well. Hmmm
And Mark has turned into Rory with his driver! Still playing Adams a12 os. Would you guys say that the only real improvements in irons are from mishit yardages? So game improvement clubs have improved, gamers not so much.
Rocking a set of i210s, but in the basement are an old (25 years old) set of Yonex Titanium+ irons with original graphic shafts as supplied by Yonex. Still a great iron although those shafts are a bit soft for me, when age withers my swing speed I will pull them out again
Hi muppets! What a awful golf you play, what a story you tell your viewers. Mat shoots in the bunker and makes a chip after this..... I think you play not correct, you drop balls without showing this and you play in real a round of 90 and not better. With Dan is the serious golfer gone. I dont know what you are doing here. Stay healthy!
Have you thought about 10 fingering that driver to counter the rights you are getting? Maybe a quick fix rather than a solution but weren’t you getting more of a slingy draw shape with the 10 finger? Maybe it would add even more distance too?!
Still playing the Taylormade Psi 6-PW. Pretty sure the face slots are doing nothing at all, but I hit them fairly well and don't see any reason to switch.
