No, he wasn't. Are you 12 years old? Donald Trump used to be universally loved, especially by Leftists. Hollywood loved him. The Clintons loved him. Oprah loved him. Then, when he had the audacity to run against Hillary Clinton, he suddenly became "racist."
The same things that soured many people's relationships with Trump. He became someone who pandered to the worst in people even if they meant going against what he believed himself.
The relationship between Letterman and Trump has always been pretty simple: Dave takes the piss out of Donald in a tone that seems like admiration on the surface (i.e. if you know nothing about Letterman's style of comedy, you might believe he's being sincere) but is actually making Trump look the fool. And Trump goes along with being mocked by Dave because he erroneously believes that he's in on the joke and/or he simply can't resist free media exposure. Nothing about that has changed over the decades, except maybe that Dave's ridiculing Trump became less subtle -- probably because Dave wanted to see how far he could go with it...

I agree with you. Unfortunately, many people have allowed their hatred of him to blind them to all the good things he did. Biden came in like a one- man wrecking crew and undid many of those things. Like shutting down the oil pipeline that had made America oil independent. If Trump didn't do Operation Warpspeed, no telling how many millions more would have died from covid. Biden has united the USA one way, by getting everyone to not like him and to realise he's not calling the shots because he doesn't even know where he is. Many Dems want Trump back. I've heard them. I know Trump has personality issues but so did Churchill. So what?

When anyone attacks a whole building of people in our country, a President stands strongly against it, does everything in his power to make sure the message is clear that we do not accept this in our country. But, Trump praised the people who attacked our nation’s Capitol. After it happened, he put out a video telling the very people who attacked Capitol police officers that he loved those people very much and they’re very special.

All this prior to Dave having brain damage from lack of oxygen during his heart surgery that turned him into a neck bearded liberal...sure miss the sane Dave. Hell, the latter Dave make Paul look like the sane one.

I remember President Trump saying one racist thing when he made a comment about a Mexican judge, however I don't know if the judge ever referred to himself as Mexican. If so, then what President Trump said was not racist as you shouldn't be a judge in the United States if you consider yourself Mexican. Therefore it is possible that President Trump has never said anything racist. It's the racists on the left who are obsessed with finding out what group someone is in so they can decide the human value of that person (black, gay, female, transgender, muslim = good. White, conservative, heterosexual, male, Christian = bad, etc.) and it's those on the left who bring up someone's race, gender, etc. ALL the time.
