Classic Dave - NBC bookmobile, 2/4/88 

This makes me nostalgic for Dave's NBC show. He had such an edge back then.

The best bookmobile ever was “Woman’s Be Thinkin Too Much” by Ike Turner.

He is a perfect balance of gruff but lovable. In fact, the Taoists originally used "gruff" and "lovable" instead of "yin" and "yang."

Gruff but lovable Gus..the looks on his face...LOL!! Robert at 66.

The very day before Jimmy the Greek made the infamous racist remarks that destroyed his career, my father ranted at one of his broadcasts, "Doesn't this idiot ever know when to shut up?" Prophetic statement.

Let's make a poll. Did you consider gruff but lovable old Gus to be more gruff, or lovable?

i used to watch dave and have a coke and a smile

I'm surprised CBS gave Dave a show after what Gus did to their bookmobile. I guess Larry Tisch didn't hold grudges.
