I had the very same make and model back in the 80's. Bought it from a bike salvage yard in mint condition other than dirt and dust on it. Paid $200 cash and the guy was grateful that I bought it. The owner here was a street biker, and had no idea what it really was. Kept that Husqvarna for 25 years!!

I had one of these exactly like in the video here. Bought it from a rich neighbor old man who hardly ever rode it. I did not really appreciate it at the time but when I got on it, it shocked me. I got into third gear and was riding a wheely without even trying to. I did not mean to ride a wheely, the bike just did what it wanted to just because I gave it what I thought was enough gas. Wish like hell I would have kept it. That was back in 1998. But I noticed from the ad I placed, nobody even knew what the hell this thing was. Only a dealer knew and bought it from me no questions asked. He took that thing home with a big smile on his face. Dang!

That's my favorite dirt bike. Great video. I was lucky enough to attend some GPs and AMA Pro races in the 70s, because we had a world class track called Cycle World near the City of St. Louis, Missouri. I saw Ake Jonnson, Roger Decoster, Brad Lackey, Jim Pomeroy (watched him miss a shift with his clunky Bultaco transmission), Bob Hannah, Marty Smith, Marty Tripes, Gaston Rahier, and so many others. Plus the brilliant Heikki Mikkola. He rarely sat down in the corners. It was impressive watching him ride nearly horizontally around a big, third-gear berm while standing on the pegs.

Thats the bike that started it all i wish we could go back and reproduce these swedish beautys they were on the dirtbike cover as the black darth vader model actually if they were on sale on the showroom floor i would buy and take good care of it i love it and the auto model ahead of its time thanks for sharing this beautifull star motocross bike pelle granquist won on one of these models in australian motocross in the 1970s all beautifull colours of all the bikes and the tanks are a valuable item that were beautifully painted like purple green red yellow black blue crimson red just a beautifull collection of star bikes from husqavarnan sweden right up to the early 1980s the 430s the end of the great husqavarnas when motocross bike were bikes made so well that i give husky the star bikes of stunning beauty

every part of this bike is fascinating.

I owned one exactly like this one. I bought it off an old rich man in Napa Valley California in the 90's. I rode it up Oathill mine road, a very rocky trail. I poped a wheely in 3rd gear without even trying through a vineyard on the way to the Oathill mine trail, I was very surprised as I did not even try to do it, it just did it on it's own. I climbed a very steep hill no problem on my way. Rode up the trail like a breeze. I could kick myself for selling the bike. At the time, there was not really any good places to ride a bike like that anywhere close, so I sold it.

My best friend has one of these in his shop and it is in outstanding shape!! That last time it was rode was 25 years ago I am sure!! And now I am trying to buy it from him and he will not sell it..and he can not even ride anymore..lol

My 79 390 WR was amazing. I should have kept it.

My Dad had four 400CR's Husqvarna and a WR390 I had a 75 CR250 and a Penton 125
