The Sensorites are a good episode before the DALEK invasion of earth. See Susans character actually develop a bit plus the Sensorites are related to the Ood. There planet is apparently in the same solar system.
Bahahaha.. completely enjoyed you giving Barbara the bizness the entire serial! Aztecs is very much of its time of recording, but I do like that even back then The Doctor and Ian were trying to get her to understand that it wasn't her place. Also, I've read that Ian was meant to be the action man since Hartnell wasn't able - hence the unnecessary fight scenes to spice things up for the family audiences. The slow fights are funny by today's standards, but I look at Classic Who as filmed stage plays, rather than television episodes based on the extremely low budgets and the way in which they wrote, scheduled and filmed. The awkwardness (and part of the early charm) of scenes come from the fast rollout schedule. Of course, this is my head canon that is based on things I've read in the past and I am more than comfortable being corrected on my ideas. PS - cute hair change in the 2nd half! I just shaved my head again ala Sinead O'Connor (which I do every few years) so I'm enjoying not worrying about hairstyling at the mo', but I love what you've been doing with yours!! Commenting to boost you. Dalek Invasion of Earth is important for so many things, as is The Rescue. The fighting was limited because this season was shot on video in one take, even if there were bloopers to save money. Video tape was expensive. I'm really glad to see your Doctor Who journey.
The Sensorities, then The Dalek Invasion of Earth and you can finally jump ahead in season 3 if you like. Unless anyone in the chat has any recommendations but only ones to stick to the lore as you said. I just wanna make it easier for you without having to go through so many fillers. S2 has waaay too many stories in my opinion. But season 3 has like 3-4 stories. The Ark, The Gunfighters(optional) and The War Machines (My fav) The only serials in season 3 that’s lost/unwatchable is Daleks Master Plan and The Celestial Toymaker. Last one has now become animated, but tbh with you not one of my fave stories. It’s fine but it’s one of those stories that starts like a bore-fest at the beginning but at the end it gets interesting.
@@ValenAlder-it5ow And the last time I checked Amazon Prime, there were no longer any copies of the Celestial Toymaker available compatible with American DVD or Blu-ray players, only UK players. I'm sure it will be available to stream eventually, and no one would mind if we backtrack a little bit down the road. Even if it isn't one of the better First Doctor serials, it became very important to the canon after "The Giggle".
The dalek invasion of earth then after that watch the rescue and after that one watch the Romans because there is a scene which shows that the first doctor knows how to defend himself.
@@Darkly_i_Shine Back then it was yes as they had to work tirelessly for months and unlike today it's very, very hard work they couldn't do retakes they had to act out like it was a play on stage the scene with Susan discussing about beimg forced into marriage were pre-filmed she wasn't actually there during the making episode 2 and 3 which was very common with television in those days.
@@Darkly_i_Shine It's a thing when you're filming a tv show all year around. The 1st season of Dr Who ran from 23/11/63 until 12/09/64 so basically once the production crew had finished filming season 1 they had to start filming season 2 straight away.
