I blame Mark and CGR for introducing this series to me all those years ago. I now have insect Armageddon and EDF4.1 under my belt and would likely start on EDF5 by year end. It's really fun to just end missions with chanting EDF! EDF! EDF!

Mark if ever you read this I have a request. Caan you please bring back your most awesome intro where you always say this line: *"Banish from Earth Classic Game Room broadcast from intergalactic space arcade on it's never ending mission to review everything."*

The death flag quotes from the soldiers in these games are hilarious "When I get back from this mission, I'm going to ask my girlfriend to marry me" and stuff like that

I always instantly think of CGR when anyone mentions these games. EDF! EDF!

This franchise might be the most 'Classic Game Room' out of modern gaming.

This brings me back to my early teens when you first showed me the majesty of EDF 2017, this is a cozy nostalgic return back to why I watched CGR

I really need to play these games. They always look like they're a lot of fun.

I originally really didn't like the new intro, but it's quickly growing on me! Although, I'll probably still like the old one better...Either way, it's the content after it that matters, and it's so awesome to hear Mark's voice and humor again!

Mark, you got me on to EDF 2017, back in the day, and I've been a massive fan ever since! Cannot wait for EDF 6 to get released outside of Japan, I need that dub to appreciate all the songs and chatter.

I was playing this a few days on the PS5 as well. Its been since Insect Armageddon I've last played and man, what a big jump in scale the series has experienced.

0:46 I have a story about this mission. First off, that screen shake effect was making my party of three motion sick. Secondly, I had been working twelve hour shifts but we wanted to finish edf 5, I was horribly exhausted, which led me to fall asleep when I got into my mech, and made said mech slump forward. My fiancée and friend were laughing at me, and saved that moment thanks to the PS5 “save gameplay footage” button. This game is tremendously fun and I look forward to edf6

pretty crazy coincidence you releasing this video while I'm currently on a slight EDF kick, was playing through Insect Armageddon, not the best EDF game but I do like how the Tactical class is easier to use solo compared to the Air Raider in the other games; also EDF5 Fencer FTW!

I might never play this game but I will watch and rewatch this review because it’s Classic Game Room.

EDF5's easy farm mission to get higher end weapons early is, I forget its name, it's pretty deep into the game, it's one where you just fight a mess of the roly poly pill bug dudes. You can go hide in the parking garage and they can't get in and take your time blasting them. Sometimes you have to come out and get the attention of the next wave. Booted it up to double check, it's #62. Sweeping Monster Balls. There they are. The monster balls. Edit: oh, also, I imported EDF6 awhile back and it's super good. It's as big of an improvement over EDF5 as EDF5 is over EDF4. It's great. It's also at least 46 times crazier than any past game in the series. I think its closets comparison is probably EDF2 with how oddball and off the wall it gets with some stuff. I haven't beaten it though yet, it's a bit rough to manage in japanese, been having to use the google translate photo app thing to figure stuff out.

I got the Japanese version of EDF 6. Absolutely love it. The menus are the same and I figure out what guns I’m selecting by trial and error, which is fun because I try new things, and google translate has a translate feature you just point your phone at the screen. I recommend 👍

Great review! Some peeps think EDF is just a meme game but it's legit fun and challenging! I thought World Brothers was a great entry too, even if it doesn't quite hit the sweet spot the mainline games do.

EDF! EDF! EDF! In Mission 62 - Sweeping Monster Balls - you can shoot out from a multistorey car park where you're almost completely untouchable, good for Hardest weapon grinding.

Hey theres an android game a lot like EDF, its called Earth Protect Squad and its pretty fun! multiplayer still works for it too

Man, I'm so tired of complex game mechanics, non-sense narratives and imposible to navigate game menus. I'm so glad fun games still exist. Thanks for the review.

I found a copy of EDF 4.1 a couple of years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, and just very recently got EDF 5. I currently feel like 4.1 was more fun to actually play, but the QoL updates in 5 make it really hard to go back. EDF FOREVER!

There is Earth Defence Force Cake,it goes like this: 1L of cosmos animals 2 cups of lord carnages mecha homing n64 controllers 1 tree branch of alien balls let it roast for 2 million ions and whoala..you're good to go!!!

This kinda reminds me of a much older earth defense PC game called “incoming” where you play as an attack helicopter, a tank, and an AA nest to defend from various alien attacks

Great game, great CGR.

EDF 5 is in my top 10 games of the last console generation. Also I love playing Air Raider and Fencer, but Fencer is unplayable until you get at least shotgun and a jackhammer, and doesn't get fun until you get multiple boosts and jumps. .
