Classic Game Room reviews MEDAL OF HONOR: SPECIAL EDITION for Playstation 3 PS3 from Danger Close, DICE and EA. Is this the Call of Duty Modern Warfare killer it was hyped up to be or is Medal of Honor just another first person shooter? The game takes place in Afghanistan where you play as several U.S. Military soldiers fighting waves of bad guys with a variety of machine guns and sniper rifles. Awesome visuals and sound design aren't quite enough to really make the game stand out though as predictable gameplay and jerky cut-scenes make this a "me-too" effort. CGR loves the helicopter scenes though, MORE HELICOPTER!! This CGR review of Medal of Honor has gameplay from Medal of Honor Special Edition on PS3 showing Medal of Honor video game play in HD action. Medal of Honor Special Edition comes with Medal of Honor Frontline remastered.

Bought this today (yes, the special edition) for 89 cents. Doubt the multiplayer is still active but I think it was still a great buy.

The entirely FREE TO DOWNLOAD new Clean Sweep mode utterly transforms this game. Small teams eliminate each other. Zero respawns. Pure Joy.

Its interesting how every reviewer missed the standout feature of the game, realism. People were so conditioned to the bullet storm run around like crazy absorbing bullet shooters, they didn't see the uniqueness of it. I still come back to play this game after playing though mw3 and Battlefield 3 which I haven't been back to after 1 play through. Can't wait for part MH2 this year.

You can get this for $3.00 now at gamestop haha. One of my friends picked it up. Pretty decent game and for that price it is worth it now if you never played it.

@zn74 Awesome man! I moved over to PC gaming in 2005, right before the 7th gen consoles were about to come out, and I'm glad I did. Nowadays with iron-sight aiming in fps games, your best bet is to use a keyboard and mouse for maximum precision. Of course thanks to PC gaming, I'm ABSOLUTELY terrible at iron-sight fps on consoles :3. I still like to power up my old consoles and play some 007 Goldeneye, TS3, and Perfect Dark... Also, I missed out on MOH:FL and Nightfire... How are those games?

Single player is Unreal Engine 3, multiplayer is Dice's Frostbite engine used for B:BC2.

This was probably the most grounded of all the modern-military shooter campaigns I've ever played. Even COD4 Modern Warfare feels too over the top compared to this. Plus it had the best nightvision in a video game with ir lamps.

If you liked the helicopter level, you may like Apache: Air Assault. It came out one month after this game, and it's basically exactly what you're describing. But I agree, the whole "jingoistic modern warfare FPS" genre is entirely played out now.

I bought it for campaign but find myself playing multiplayer much more. The guns FEEL so good. It ain't my favorite but is still great I do miss bad company 2 though which I sold to get this one...

the biggest problem is that games that stand out nowadays usually get scrutiny in reviews for not sticking to what every other game does well, and bad reviews lead to bad sales. i loved this game though

@StopFear well it was good, you can play it just the same but the graphics were around the same but a bit smoother, but they really didn't optimize it. it was just a quick release i think.

I was so hyped about this game saw the trailers, did pre-order and the midnight release. Then I played it.... Game play was ok, the story was what made this game playable, serving currently in the military I think they did a fine job illustrating operation anaconda, this wasn't the COD killer I was hyped about. Oh well one more week till black ops.

The multiplayer is good, but it needs some refinement. There are definitely some issues with spawn killing and a few other areas.

@robfilmmaker I didn't like playing or Battlefield 3 either, and I hated MW3, I traded in Battlefield Bad Company 2 within the week I got it. I enjoyed MW2 with 3 friends on splitscreen mode, and I liked Black Ops for a couple months. If our views on these games are similar, perhaps I will enjoy Medal of Honor as much as you do. What is your opinion on Black Ops, MW2, and Battlefield Bad Company 2?

i actually really liked this game. in my oppinion they basicly did wat cod did with cod four however, there r great things to b said about it its just the first in (hopefully) wat will b a series of modern warfare medal of honor games and they have plenty of time to bring them up to speed

So you're saying they should have made a direct sequel to the Desert/Jungle/Urban Strike? I could go with that, I miss those games. This game was pretty good, suprisingly I did enjoy the MP for the one night I played. The sound is great. The best FPS would be a modern shooter with this sound, MW2 graphics and Alan Wake Lighting engine... I can dream can't I?

Beards of Honor: Headshot The Taliban 2010 is actually a much better game than reviewers gave it credit for. It's not on par with the mega-budget shooters of CoD and BF but that's not to say it doesn't have solid mechanics. I dismissed it my first time in but playing it again recently, it's definitely worth a run through if you like this particular style of military shooters. The sound design really is beautiful and worth the play time. Play this LOUD.

This game's "thing" was it's dedication do doing our current generation of service men and women justice. Mostly the unsung heroes of Devgru and Delta. Yeah, those guys that give all of their credit to "Seal Team Six" and Army SF. Yes, it's just a game but supposedly some servicemen got in some trouble over it's making and some of the game's missions are loosely based on real ones.

I was watching the review in IGN and i thought to myself "IGN sucks at reviewing games, always negative comments about the game, CGR gives you a side on whether you should buy it or not.... PLUS I LOVE THE INTRO MUSIC" and so i went on youtube and got here. CGR replaced IGN for me.

You should play Battlefield Bad Company 2. It is the funniest game right now (we can destroy almost everything in it), and simultaneously it is more strategic than MW2 or Killzone (squad play is really rewarded).

I think MOH is a great game, It isnt a COD killer, but its different and more realistic. I cant wait to see MOH 2. As for people complaining about Black Ops being the same as MW2. Black Ops is gonna be what MW2 should've been.
