NES console review!
Classic Game Room reviews the NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM video game console from Nintendo released in 1985. Commonly referred to as "The NES", this 8-bit game system changed the universe and made Nintendo a household game. Video games like Super Mario Bros., Metroid, The Legend of Zelda, Bionic Commando, Contra and more made their way into millions of game rooms around the world thanks to the NES. CGR NES video game console review features the classic, grey Nintendo Entertainment System with the 72 pin connector, the flip up door and composite / mono AV output!

When I was in high school, the first wave of NES nostalgia hit. With a lot of my classmates learning that the systems that had been sitting in the garage or basement stopped working. Online emulation was still in its infancy. So I had quite the enterprise going, replacing the 72-pin connectors for $10 a job (it took five minutes and the replacement connectors were $3 each).

The NES was the first video game console I ever saw when I was a kid. Still play mine every once in a while. The nostalgia factor is high with that console.

I remember playing the NES back in the 1990's from K-3 before it kicked the bucket in 1999. First played Super Mario Bros on it as well as some other games that I remember playing such as Top Gun, RC Pro-AM, Contra, Jackal, Blaster Master, Tecmo Bowl, and The Adventures of Bayou Billy. Good times before the ghost of it left and the N64 came into play.

The first time I played the Nintendo Entertainment System was when my sister Paula had the NES Power Set, which had the console, two NES controllers, the Zapper light gun, Power Pad mat, and a three-game cartridge featuring Super Mario Bros., Duck Hunt, and World Class Track Meet. I loved it so much that she gave it to me for Christmas and got the Action Set herself.

Actually the design of every Nintendo gameconsole was terrible and/or boring, the GameCube may be the only exception. But thankfully it's the innerts and the games that make the console. The for sure NES/famicom is one of the greatest console of all times.

+Aidyn3000 The NES was designed to look that way because Nintendo didn't want it to look like a gaming console. At that time, nobody wanted consoles, and retailers were struggling to get rid of the ones they had in stock. The NES had a great design if you look at it from a marketing standpoint.

How to fix the NES pin connector issue. Remove it, clean it, and tighten it. Reinstall it. Now, every time you go to play a game; just push it in. Do not push it down. It will work perfectly and you won't be putting any more unusual stress on the pins
@JUSXTREME96

71dembones thats exactly what i did. I got my NES in mid 2012 and in early 2013 the pins were bad and games wouldnt read. there was also the blinking light reset thing. i disabled the 10nes lockout chip, straightened the pins and it has been working great since. Though now the only thing i keep in it is an everdrive.

Mark, I'm almost certain your NES's 72-pin connector is probably what's gone wrong to make you think it's broken. Look up the product "Blinking Light Win." It's a newly developed 72-pin connector that eliminates pushing the game down and bending the connector pins out of place.
@gameoverwehaveeverypixelco1258

Great review, as always. I think that the Famicom is a better looking console than the NES, but that's because it was my first video game console ever. If it only had longer gamepad cables, AV output and start & select buttons on the second controller, oh well. :) On the other hand I think that American SNES looked better than PAL/JP one.

the 72 pin problem can easily be fixed by replacing the thing, the part costs like 10 bucks and takes a good 30 minutes, it's to date the only successful repair I've done myself.... I have an FC twin since I don't have the space for the full sized console and don't want to deal with other unreliability issues..

It made me so sad to see 5:12 because my Vectrex broke two week ago. :( Not sure what happened since I didn't even move or touch it since the last time I used it. Overall, I agree though. The Vectrex doesn't break as often as an NES, but good luck trying to find someone willing to try and refurb a vector graphics system with a built-in monitor. Haven't found one yet...
@TheFutureIsPrimitive
@TheFutureIsPrimitive 9 лет назад
+123gamerman The Vectrex is more like a consolized vector arcade system, so look for people that repair video game arcade machines. Especially if they can repair vector monitors. Then you will need a multicart with the Vectrex diagnostic or Test Cart ROM to adjust the pots for the monitor after it's repaired.
