Classic Game Room reviews TOP GEAR for Super Nintendo from 1992. CGR plays Top Gear the videogame (no relation to the awesome TV show) from Kemco for SNES and races against the evil "computer" and 18 other cars in races around the world on a variety of interesting, well designed race courses. Fans of games like Rad Racer, Outrun and Super Monaco GP should check out this well made, old-school, 16-bit driving game with responsive controls and well balanced gameplay. This game is HUGE down here in Brazil! I don't know exactly why, but we love it! it was very, very popular in 16 bit era, and even today, it's in our top lists.

Widely recognized as having some of the best music of the 16-bit era. It's funny how most people just remember it for the soundtrack, but it was actually a pretty sweet game in its' own right. Good show.

Man this was the best game I played on the SNES. I remember I played this game a lot with my cousins. This game got me into the racing and driving games. Also I like the soundtracks, all of them were epic and made it more tense when playing. Top Gear was ahead of its time and I can still play this game 8 years later. Thanks Mark for uploading this review.

I remember playing this game the most, when I visited my cousin's house. The game, was so fun and very nostalgic. At one point, my cousin and I was able to beat all the tracks from beginning to end on Professional in one sitting. The music for this game was amazing and so ahead of its time. This was also the game, that had gotten me into racing games. I personally, bought a SNES off Amazon just to play Top Gear again. Lastly, long live the white car :D.

My god, I remember this game, I played this with my brother NON STOP. We tried all the cars, what combination is the best, when to refuel, how to beat the other AI racers by bumper owning them. (Works with top gear 2000, though you lose your rear bumper). There were times when my bro had to push my car to the pitstop! Oh man, the music, the tire screeching, the nitro boost, the trashtalk when you pass other chars, it's giving me goose bumps! Thanks for reviewing this! :D p.s. HORIZONS

The music is still elite in this game. I love to play this game still even today. I sat down about a few weeks ago and just played for an hour or so. I used to be better at it, but I had a blast.

Top Gear 2 was my first game, I love everything in that game, but when I knew about Top Gear 1 and downloaded it and played it a few years ago through emulation, Holy Shirt! the sense of speed in this game, well, you have to try it to know what I'm talking about. -My verdict- Great controls Sticky music Road hogs Graphics that stood the test of time And the blessing of Lord Karnage

This is the only game I could ever get my Dad to play too...rented this game and beat it into oblivion, trading turns coming in first and second on the two player mode. The music is bringing it all back lol

I can definitely say now and forever that Top Gear is in my TOP 5 favorite racing games. Right up there with F-Zero X, Mario Kart series (they're all the same to me in gameplay), Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing, and I don't know what would be the fifth.

I spend hours at time when I was 5-6 years old playing this, Super Mario World and F-Zero on my SNES in the early 2000s... lost the game and system but I'll do anything to get it back... great memories though.

Top Gear is one of my favorite games of all time. Mostly because it was my 1st video game that I got it with my 1st game counsel, the SNES, for Christmas as a kid. The sound track is still burned into my memory.

I just bought a used Super Nintendo and this was the first game I bought, saw it for $3 at a store so I copped it. This game is the tits! It's so freakin addicting, I can play it for 8-10 hours straight, the only reason I stop is because my thumbs get numb. So glad I took the leap of faith and gave this game a shot

You reviewed this game for the Genesis a while back. I played this game for the SNES back in the day. Bad ass racing game. Heck, its still fun to play today. If it were ever to show up on the Wii VC it should have online 2 player.The music in this game is very 80's.

@Jicholson Yeah. We have a channel called "BBC America" that broadcasts things like Top Gear, Dr. Who, and other such BBC shows stateside, and it is the same Top Gear that the Brits have. Unfortunately, however, to compensate for things like commercials, there are portions of each episode that are cut out (mainly the News segments). There is supposed to be an American version coming out as well, but as you can imagine, most of us US Top Gear fans don't have high hopes for that malarkey.

I loved this game as a kid. Fantastic music like a lot of other games on the SNES. : ) I could never beat this game though because it gets really hard near the end.

Top Gear is an outstanding game, definitely one of my favorite 16-bit racing games (along with F-Zero and Outrun 2019). I have both of its sequels on the SNES, and they're great games too which add a lot of features, but somehow I still like the first game the best... it's the simplest and most straightforward, and that music is so great. Top Gear is fantastic. Still though, yes, anyone who liked the first one should also play the sequels. TG 3000 even has 4-player splitscreen!

1 of the best racing games ever, up there with N64 F-Zero, this is better IMO. Anyone who never played it during their childhood and only sees it or plays it now just won't have the same effect, since expectations are higher.

we had this game (still do) when I was little. honestly if it weren't for that, I would never have known about this game. but boy am I glad we did. Its so much fun and it has the best soundtrack of any racing game ever. the best part is its all original music. not just already made songs by LMFAO and 50 cent and all that crap. only thing is you find yourself rear ending cars and litterally coming to a complete stop a lot

um 1 pick the white car if you choose to skip on the pits on that track and the 4th track , and the one that is in the japan section i think its the 2nd one in the 3rd one, you can skip fuel if you use white car -some times also on track 5 but it often dont work for some reason its just random
